Uhuru has a lot of work cut out for him because after Joe Kadenge, yet another legendary footballer wants to be visited.

Former goal keeper Mahmoud Mohammed is ailing from a heart disease and urgently requires treatment which he feels like Uhuru should cater for.

The ex-Kenya international goalie who played during Joe Kadenge’s time is asking for Uhuru’s help in catering for the health bill to India to undergo specialized treatment.

“I played for the national team with Kadenge and others but remain suffering heart disease for the past two years and I tried to seek help from various leaders in vain. Having served for the national team several years in the past, I hope President Kenyatta will recognize that and help me get treatment for the disease I’m suffering,” Mahmoud told the Nation.

Joe kadenge made the headlines a few weeks ago when he requested Uhuru Kenyatta to visit him as part of his last dying wish.

Uhuru obliged and in return awarded him 2 million to take manage his deteriorating health. Will he heed to Mahmoud’s call? We will just have to wait and see.

President Uhuru has done what his three predecessors failed to do during their time as commander in chief. But meeting Joe Kadenge was nothing compared to what he did for the sickly football legend.

Government officials from the Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts last week confirmed the president would meet Joe Kadenge.

While the planned meeting was scheduled for January 12th, the president went on to meet Kadenge on Sunday after he returned to the capital from Mombasa.

The wisest thing the president did that earned him accolades was to visit Joe Kadenge at his South B Mariakani home rather than to have the sickly legend travel to State House to see him.

Uhuru was accompanied by the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Sports CS Hassan Wario, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko among other top government officials.

The President personally gave Kadenge an NHIF card so that his family and him could access medical care at no cost.

Uhuru also gave Kadenge a whopping Kes 2 million to top up the fundraising effort towards his plight that started following his hospitalization on Boxing Day, three days after collapsing during a family outing.

Another important thing the head of state did was to order immediate operationalization of Heroes Council to deal with matters affecting legends of the past who have served the country with distinction.

The President revealed Kes 300 million will be allocated by Treasury as per the law established to cater for the nation’s heroes.

In return, Joe Kadenge handed the president a branded No.7 football Jersey, an autographed ball and a copy of his autobiography.

Uhuru Kenyatta offers to meet sickly football legend Joe Kadenge while former presidents Moi and Kibaki remain mum

Joe Kadenge’s dying wish was to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta and his two predecessors, Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki. So far only the incumbent has heed to Kadenge’s plea.

A few days ago, football legend Joe Kadenge made a wish to meet former presidents before he dies. He had been admitted to the hospital after he fell sick.

Kenyans amplified Kadenge’s call to meet the president and finally word got to top government officials who are now laying plans to have the head of state meet the sickly football legend.

Government officials from the Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts confirmed the football icon will meet the president on Thursday evening next week.

Sports Permanent Secretary, Joe Okudo, revealed the visit was an instruction from the President who wished to see Kadenge after he made a plea to meet him.

No word has been heard from Kibaki and Moi’s side concerning Kadenge’s wish to meet them. The two former presidents usually communicate through their representatives.

Kenyan football legend Joe Kandenge has made a dying wish to President Uhuru Kenyatta as he lies on bed waiting go to meet his maker anytime.

The sickly footballer was rushed to Meridien Hospital on December 26th after his condition worsened. Kadenge suffers from complications related to diabetes.

Of late, the 81 year old legend has been admitted to a number of city hospitals as his condition deteriorates frequently.

Kadenge made a wish to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta before he dies;

“There are people in the government that I would like to meet. Firstly the president of Kenya; I would also like to meet former presidents. It seems my body doesn’t like me for now. I would like to say goodbye to them (the president and former presidents),” Joe Kadenge spoke in a video uploaded by the Nairobian.

Raila Odinga is the only senior political figure whom Joe Kadenge has met; the sickly footballer met the former PM during the launch of his autobiography book.
