Tarrus Riley Releases “Uganda”. Watch Video Here!

If there is one artist that I think should come back to Uganda, more times than once, then it has got to be Tarrus Riley. On his stage  performance, he gave his fans a hint of a song he had created titled, “Uganda”. This was to share in solidarity, with the political turmoil, which was at that time blaring over the country.

The song has our own Ugandan Girls, and Tarrus sharing love lyrics with a girl. “Oh Girl, you are the pearl of Africa…. You are my Uganda” There is no way you can fail to fall in love with this song, or even Tarrus Riley after this, especially the part where he says the names of our districts.

Tarrus Made the video to share to the world the beauty of the country. The source of the Nile, the landscape and most importantly, the women. Enjoy the Video Below.

Tarrus Riley not coming Uganda

In December last year, Ugandans were delighted after it was announced that legendary singer, Tarrus Riley, was set to perform at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Unfortunately, the joy and smile dried up on their faces after the organizers,   Red fog events company later confirmed that the Jamaican superstar would not turn up following a series of disputes .

This year, Swangz Avenue promised Ugandans that they would fly in Tarrus Riley on the 31st of August as they celebrate 10 years of service in the entertainment industry.

In a previous exclusive interview we had with Benon Mugumbya, Director Swangz Avenue,  he informed us that this is a local celebration and an international artiste would join them at the grand finale at Cricket Oval, Lugogo.

However, Tarrus Riley has came out to publish his official tour guide and surprisingly, Uganda is not on the list.

We tried to reach out to Swangz Avenue for a comment but our efforts were futile.

According to the report, the director of Redfog, Charles Bassaja said;

“We received overwhelming support from reputable cooperate entities but as the show’s key sponsors, they felt they did not have enough time to promote the event adequately. Nevertheless, our sponsors remain fully committed to making the show happen, as so is Tarrus Riley, so we are looking forward to bringing him to Kampala next March and to giving Ugandans a concert experience they will never forget.”

Tarrus Riley Will Not Be Performing in Kampala

We will not say this is the first time that an artiste has disappointed the people of Uganda. Tarrus Riley is not coming to Uganda!

We had bought our hottest outfits, saved up a sum of money, and called up our favourite buddies to attend what could have been the reggae/ragga event of the year. However, on his social media, Tarrus Riley has confirmed to the people of Kampala that he will not be performing. He however says all this is because of the sponsors.

Tarrus

“It is amazing how quickly we as black brothers and sisters tend to speak badly of each other without getting all the facts, I have waited my entire career and it was like a dream come true to play in Kampala, Uganda.

My team has held this date for over three months only to receive an email from the promoters of the event two days ago which stated ‘Unfortunately, due to events beyond my control, our exclusive sponsor for the event, notified me only last week that they would not be fulfilling their contractual obligations…Due to this situation I am asking that we reschedule for a time when I am able to generate capital and secure a diversified sponsor base to make the concert happen.’ My team and I are VERY disappointed but this is no fault of mine.”

The singer of the hit, “Just the Way You Are” had however confirmed and the event was to be at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala on 1st December, 2017.

Well, let’s wait for Wiz KID then.
