Unbelievable: Kidero Stuns Nairobians With An Ambitious Yet Costly Plan Aimed At Reducing Perennial Traffic Jams (Photo)

Nairobi has been synonymous with perennial traffic jams that at some time have seen residents spend their nights on the roads. Coupled with poor drainage, the capital has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

And the person who has been under heavy scrutiny since 2013 is none other than Governor Evans Kidero. He is the boss and as many expect, Nairobi should be a safe haven for everyone. But alas! This has been a dream everyone wants to come to fruition.

The traffic jams have culminated into warnings for the governor, with his seat under threat come 2017 when the general elections will go down again.

In a bid to serve and save his seat, Kidero has launched an ambitious yet costly plan aimed at easing the congestion in the capital and to beat the traffic jams that have derailed development to a great extent.

The governor and City Hall have approved a proposed plan to install a cable car that will help reduce traffic on major roads.

The cable car project is estimated to cost Kshs58 Billion and Trapos Africa, the consultants for the public-private partnership project, have come up with the master plan to ease movement in the city, reports Business Daily.

Trapos Africa chairman Eustace Mwarania said they have prepared plans for a pilot project that would run from Embakasi, Donholm to Muthurwa — which will be an interchange point — before proceeding to Jamhuri, Kibera and Nyayo National Stadium.
