VIDEO: Astronauts Confirm Just How Realistic IMAX’s Latest Film Is

Gravity makes its East African debut this Friday, 18th October at the IMAX XX Century on Mama Ngina.

Headlined by Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, the film focuses on two astronauts on a routine spacewalk before disaster strikes, leaving them stranded and floating away into space.

Alfonso Cuaron, the director says,”We wanted it to be an immersive experience, where you’re seating in the theatre but you feel as if you’re floating in space. There’s no other format that’s as immersive as IMAX. When you see them on screen, you get to see every single detail.”

NASA astronaut Mike Massimino confirms just how realistic Gravity actually is, “Everything is exactly as it was on our mission. The IMAx format captured the emotion of what is like to be in crisis, but we had a better day than they did in Gravity. The big format, the beautiful hues brings back a lot of memories”

“When you go to the movies, when you walk in that door and you seat, you’re asking someone to take you somewhere. Somwhere you probably can’t go on your own. I believe in magic and a film like this in this IMAX format, you get to go,” says Dr. Cady Coleman, a NASA astronaut who worked as a consultant on the film.

IMAX is an innovator in entertainment technology, combining proprietary software, architecture and equipment to create experiences that take you beyond the edge of your seat to a world you’ve never imagined.
