The female rapdom isn’t very populated. We only got a few names around there – Wangechi, STL, Nazizi (does she still rap?), Femi One, Noti Flow… And then the story is very much over.
And even with such a minimal number of players in such a vast field,very little activity is usually visible from these girls.
But not with Njeri… Who keeps em cummin… Day after day after day.
Rapping predominantly in Kikuyu,although she’s started to infuse a little English and Sheng in her raps,Njeri has become a phenomenon of sorts across the City.
She started off with the eponymous single Njeri before mashing it up with STL on a couple tracks that sure buzzed up the town.
And now,girl is back. Blazing like fire.
Yesterday,the Baddest girl on the block dropped new freshest jam ‘Cheza’ and it’s an absolute smash hit.
The song,which was recorded at the Saint P studios sees Njeri at her fiercest yet,rapping boisterously over a thumping trap beat,in a delivery and flow that clearly shows just how much the sweetheart from Kiambu has grown.
The colorful video,which was shot by Leon Chege ,sees Njeri rapping from the hallway of what looks like a warehouse and also while sitting at a classy table opposite her man… Sipping on red wine and with very tasteful costume changes.
With her Donatella Versace white wig,flowing beautifully over he shoulders down to her upper torso gives her the edgy look of the freshest,baddest rap empress. Add her edgy round glasses to all that swag and you’ve already got yourself a winner.
And she doesn’t disappoint with her lines.
It’s all a beautiful beautiful job from a girl who has refused to be classified. Or to sit pretty on her laurels.
