Dr. Ngugi Njoroge, the man President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated for the role of Central Bank Governor after the departure of Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u stunned a parliamentary committee vetting him for the same when he said he single and contented at the age of 54.

This caught MPs off-guard and instead of asking him pertinent issues, they resorted to wondering why he is single and some even proposed to get him a wife.

Many Kenyans have taken to the social media to air their disgust at how the MPs conducted themselves during the vetting process, with many believing they overlooked their mandate to discuss an unnecessary matter.

The latest to express is fears that MPs could reject the nominee on grounds he is single is Prof. Makau Mutua.

Speaking his mind through twitter, Makau Mutua has, however, stunned his followers by claiming MPs think the nominee is gay because he is not married.

He says they are likely to deny him the job on this grounds.

Parliament has come under scrutiny lately after they rejected Monica Juma because of personal grudges.

Here is what Prof. Mutua said:

CBK Governor nominee is highly qualified BUT MPs worry he’s gay because he isn’t married
