“I could not sit or pose for a photo,” Chantelle Petit recounts painful battle with fistula

Yummy mummy, Chantelle Petit bore a baby girl early January 2019 where she suffered fistula that rendered her unable to sit.

The joy of a mother is to hear their baby´s first cry in the hope that they will eventually get to hold them in their arms.

As much as this was the joy of Kenyan vlogger, Chantelle Petit, her postpartum journey tells a different tale.

The mother of one suffered birth complications that compelled her to undergo reconstructive fistula surgery after a 3rd degree tear during delivery.

The aftermath was a painful experience, rendering her unable to hold onto her baby for more than 5 minutes and unable to sit nor walk properly.

Use of the bathroom was a luxury for her and if she could be spared frequent visits to the restroom, then that could have made life way easier for her.

A first time mom, who can´t enjoy the feeling that comes with channeling all your energy towards this mini-you.

Instead, for Chantelle, more time was spent healing her wounds than on nursing her little girl.

As she recently recalled those dark days, the mompreneur could not help but get emotional, remembering just how tough the journey of motherhood had started for her.

Not able to sit, let alone pose for a picture. Forget the smile and all those random or perfected poses we struggle to make, Chantelle could not even enjoy the luxury of a lens before her eyes.

The fact that I´m able to now, makes me super emotional. I don´t even know what to say.

Having survived the trying times, the content creator´s one prayer is that stigmatization of the condition in women someday comes to a halt, for good.

But I pray we will one day live in a world where the stigma associated with fistula is no more.

Their relationship has not served either of them milk and honey, having had a fair share of setbacks, at times splashing mud on each other´s names but if recent events are anything to go by, the dust has settled and co-parenting is going just fine.
