Singer Majirani claims he was almost raped in jail: ‘Hardest moment of my life’

Former Grandpa Records artist Majirani had to learn the hard away that jail isn’t a garden of roses.

In an interview with word is, the singer confessed that he was almost raped while in jail. The musician, who was in prison for a year after his father sent him for dropping out of school, was traumatized by life behind bars.

“It is not a good experience. You are eaten by lice and given that they are considered ‘wanyama ya serikali [government’s animals]’ you are not allowed to kill them. If you were found killing them it’s considered a crime,” confessed the singer.

Lesson

Majirani also went on to share that he almost got raped by a fellow prisoner.

“I am thankful to God [the attack failed]. That was the hardest moment of my life in prison.” he said.

“Prison taught me that you need to respect people. Right now even if you wrong me, I just walk [away] because I would not want to go back there. Freedom is more important than all the money [in the world].”

Singer Majirani denies he’s broke, says he spends around 2.6 million funding his football team

Singer Majirani is not after bragging, but just for him to make things clear, he had to share the huge amount of money he has been churning out lately so that people can stop linking him with poverty.

Rumors had it the singer was wallowing in poverty after a photo of him chilling near a slum emerged. The singer however has now come out to refute the claims saying that he’s no where close to brokenness.

“I have built my house, I have my own place in Eldoret,” said the singer in a statement to journalists.

“I can’t be broke. That was fake news. Just because I took a break from music doesn’t mean I’m not making money. I’m not like some of these other artists who when they stop singing they start to struggle.”

Funding

Majirani went on to reveal that he has been sponsoring his football team Majirani FC which has been one of the best in Kenya in terms of performance.

He said that so far he has spent millions sponsoring the team and he’s currently looking at how he can take it to the premiere league.

“I spend almost 800k every year sponsoring Majirani FC,” said the singer who is known for his tracks Tukumbukeko and Vilekunaendanga.

“So far I have spent at-least Ksh 2.6 million. So there’s no way I can be broke.”

Former Grandpa Records artist Majirani hit the stardom in 2014 with an emotional rags to riches story. The singer, who is known for hits like “Hivo ndo Kunaendanga,” and “Tukumbukeko” had a tough life after dropping out of school and had to find away to feed himself.

Majirani, who comes from Eldoret, rose from just another hawker after that to a top musician while working with Grandpa Records.

Well, it seems things are not going really well for the singer after staying almost four years without dropping a hit.

Ksh 1 million

Majirani was recently spotted looking washed up and really struggling. Remember this is a guy who won Ksh 1 million after beating almost 300 other artists at Maasai Mara Mic Battle Talent Search in 2014.

In an interview after that, he confessed that he bought a plot and used the remaining cash to fund his music career.

“I used the money to facilitate the production of my music. I was able to comfortably produce my audios and videos at Grandpa Records. I invested the rest of the money in a prime plot in Eldoret,” he said then.
