Why Kantai’s mum blames Khaligraph Jones for her son’s death

Khaligraph Jones was good friends with Chris Kantai who passed on back in 2019 following depression which allegedly contributed to his death. Rumour had it that Chris Kantai battled with dark thoughts for a long time; but somewhere along the long he got better and even started making music.

Before his untimely death, the late Chris worked with Khaligraph Jones on a project Ting Badi Malo; that saw his career bloom overnight despite having disappeared from the music scene for years. Rumour however has it that he was not rightfully paid by Khaligraph hence getting back into depression due to the struggles of life.

For the first time Khaligraph Jones opened up about his relationship with the late Kantai adding details as to why he was not allowed to attend the singer’s burial. Speaking to CTA’s Richard Njau, Khaligraph Jones went on to add that Kantai’s mum was made to believe that he was the reason why her son got depressed. Khali said;

Even after his death a lot of things were said, that ooh Khaligraph you went and worked with him and when he was suffering I just left him to suffer. They are always looking for someone to blame when there is a crisis.

Although Khaligraph understands that Kantai’s mum was made to believe lies, the rapper has no bad blood with anyone; but he has since learnt how to deal with pressure, criticism among other things that push artists into mental related illnesses.

Do you know I wasn’t allowed to attended his burial in Ngong. Apparently this is what was being said about the whole ordeal; Kantai’s mom was made to believe that I’m the one who made Kantai go through depression and eventually passing.

Although it is hard to tell whether Khaligraph owed the later rapper money; Khali was kind enough to share his side of the story where he distanced himself from the claims. He went on to add that the stories are lies but all in all he already played his part. Speaking about the money issue Khali went on to say;

 It is said that I owed him money from the song we did together. That I didn’t pay him and now he passed away and it’s all because of me. And now the mom gave directives that Khaligraph Jones should never be allowed to attend Kantai’s funeral. That is how it happened. It hurts but, it is what it is.
