While partying with Usain and Minnie Dlamini at a G.H. Mums event, Unathi says the world’s fastest man challenged her to a “get down dance off”.

At first I tried HUMBLY to decline saying ‘Bruv as much as I could never challenge you to a 100m sprint I don’t think you want to challenge an African child to a dance challenge. Our squat game is for the gods of WAKANDA.’ He insisted??‍♀️As you can see I WON??‍♀️?You’re both gracious and wonderfully naughty. Enjoy CT fam as they get ready for this perfect duo!

Unathi Msengana conquers Mt Kilimanjaro(Video)

Following a nine day hike Unathi reached the summit of Mt.Kilimanjaro.

Her  gruelling journey last week as part of a campaign to raise awareness about Africa.

Taking to social media earlier this week Unathi could not contain her excitement about reaching the summit of the mountain. She said that she struggled to articulate her emotions about the trip, on which she did a lot of soul searching.

“It was a very emotional trip for me because of the alone time I had but more so in losing Bra Hugh the day after I summitted and obviously constantly thinking of the incredible Gugu Zulu on my trip,” she said.

Unathi revealed that she met Gugu and Letshego Zulu when they still in varsity, and has known and loved them for that long. Gugu Zulu died while trying to summit the mountain 18 months ago as part of a Trek4Mandela expedition.

Unathi said she also introspected a lot because of the hours she had to herself and realised that life was not guaranteed.

“I realised that we are never alone and that we are living on borrowed time,” she added.

When she reached the peak of the World Heritage Site, Unathi shared a video and struggled to hold back tears as she celebrated the accomplishment.

Unathi also posted photo on instagram with the caption.

1’ve been struggling to articulate my emotions about this trip until I spoke to a friend of mine this morning @thabo_shogole who put me at ease as he shared his intentions of summiting this beautiful mountain and world and African Heritage. It was a very emotional trip for me because of the alone time I had but more so in losing Bra Hugh the day after I summitted and obviously constantly thinking of the INCREDIBLE Gugu Zulu on my trip. I met Gugu through his wife @letshegozulu as we are old VG girls and that’s how long I have known and loved them both. I communicated with Tshego on the trip which was special for me too. I realised that we are NEVER alone and that we are living on borrowed time. So these shoulders we stand on. The shoulders of GIANTS, alive and resting are powerful shoulders. These shoulders give us strength to be the very best versions of ourselves that we can EVER be. So to those who have shared their fears, hopes, reservations, excitement, anxieties around summiting her gracious Mt Kili with me. We owe it to them. Their belief in us will never waiver. It is now our time to explore and discover this beautiful continent of Africa in all her splendor and challenges! ????? CAMAGU @africandomain#followtheflagafrica

Unathi Msengana ready to climb Mt Kilimanjaro

With just a few days to go before the quest to conquer Kilimanjaro begins for the Idols SA judge, Unathi Msengana  explained she was as prepared as one could be before attempting to summit the 5,895 m above sea level mountain, but that didn’t stop the nerves.

God, tell that woman there how beautiful and majestic she is. (Tell her) there’s a humble village girl, who is coming all the way from SA, she just wants to have a good experience, a respectful one… I respect her. Can she just allow me to summit? God, please speak to your girl. Tell her we are in the same WhatsApp group, please God.”

This is a summarised version of Unathi Msengana’s prayer as she prepares to embark on her biggest fitness journey yet and attempts to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

“People say you can’t conquer the mountain, she allows you to summit. So I’m prepared as I can ever be for whatever the mountain feels that I should receive. Here, I’ve been praying to God to speak to that mountain,” she told TshisaLIVE.

“I’m nervous, it’s a huge task. A wonderful experience (to look forward to) and an enormous campaign. I think I’m just taking it all in, I am not taking anything for granted.

“I think when I am asked to do something like this, I always kind of put the initiatives first. Then I fall in love with that, I fall in love with the idea of uniting Africa physically… then I remember, ‘girl, you are going on a nine-day walking hike…three hours a day!'”

Unathi said she was not oblivious to the reality of falling sick or a possible death on the mountain and has even had the talk with her children.

“I’ve even had the medic team speak to my kids. (The danger associated with such a journey) is something I take very seriously, so I’ve had this conversation with them. I also spoke to my psychologist and have been in counsel with people that have summited the mountain.”

The musician said she was advised to listen to her body and to curb her competitiveness, so that when she’s told to slow down or to go back, she listens.

Unathi said she’s looking forward to “quiet moments,” where she can have “uninterrupted conversations with God and long hours of introspection” above the clouds.

“I’m very aware of the fact that I have nothing to prove and if I don’t summit that is all in God’s will.”

Unathi Msengana confirms separation with Thomas

Unathi Msengana confirmed that she and her husband Thomas, are not together. This was on Saturday during a TV interview on eNCA.

The two have been private on matters about their relationship, even refusing to respond to media reports about their marriage.

During the interview, Unathi said that she has learnt not to be in a position where “people force us to share our private lives. Your work speaks for itself.”

She stated she has always separated her personal and professional life.

When pushed by the interviewer on whether she and Thomas are together, she responded, “No, we are not.” The presenter then asked “you’re in a good place?” To which Unathi replied: “Of course we are. We’re family.”
