Ababu Namwamba Gifts Veteran Media Personality Leonard Mambo Mbotela Sh. 1 Million

Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs and Sports Ababu Namwamba recently visited veteran media personality Leonard Mambo Mbotela at his home in Nairobi. Namwamba shared photos of the visit on his social media accounts, and netizens were delighted to see the two icons together.

During the visit, Namwamba presented Mbotela with his Hongera Award and Sh. 1 million in recognition of his contribution to the nation. Namwamba also praised Mbotela for his work as a journalist and commentator, noting that he was a “national hero of all time.”

“What a special blessing to visit with and drink  from the fountain of wisdom of this incredible national hero of all time, the ever-green, irrepressible colossus Leonard Mambo Mbotela, he of the peerless “Je, huu ni ungwana” fame,” Namwamba posted on his official X social media account.

Namwamba also discussed his plans to take Kenyan football back to its golden days. He said that he was inspired by Mbotela’s work as a football commentator, and he promised to “elevate the sporting world in Kenya.”

“Live long, Shujaa! We have walked down memory lane to the dizzying times when football radio broadcasts were magical, when Kenyans thronged stadia to cheer their favourite teams, turning every match into a stirring carnival atmosphere.

I am even more determined to take Kenyan football and the rest of our sports to heights never witnessed before. Twende stadi naniii,” the last of his post read.

Netizens commended Namwamba for taking time to visit Mbotela, and they also urged him to keep his promises about nurturing the youth and elevating sports in Kenya.
