Waihiga Mwaura’s Citizen TV exit pays off with huge win

Waihiga Mwaura has secured a victory in the category of Development & Public Affairs Reporting. This achievement comes months after his departure from Citizen TV to join CNN. Although absent from the ceremony, the award was graciously accepted on his behalf by fellow journalist Jamila Mohamed.

Expressing his gratitude on social media, Waihiga expressed his surprise at receiving the award. He reflected on the significance of the winning story, “The Saudi Allure,” which shed light on the need for accountability following the tragic deaths of young women in Saudi Arabia. These deaths left families grappling for answers, as many were diagnosed with alleged heart attacks or cardiac arrests.
