This is why DP William Ruto was heckled in Kisumu while President Uhuru received warm reception

Deputy President William Ruto was yesterday forced to cut short his speech in Kisumu after the crowd turned wild and demanded Uhuru to address them instead.

President Uhuru Kenyatta toured the Luo Nyanza region on Wednesday, he campaigned in Kisumu and Homa Bay Counties alongside his deputy.

DP William Ruto met hostile crowd in Kisumu while addressing residents during the re-launch of EABL bottling line in the lakeside city.

“Hatutaki Ruto… Hatutaki Ruto…” The crowd chanted anti-Ruto slogan demanding President Uhuru to address them instead.

The heckling of DP Ruto however doesn’t come as a surprise, local politicians had warned Uhuru of tagging along Ruto to his trip in Luo Nyanza.

Speaking in Homa Bay town on Sunday, Senator Moses Kajwang’ warned that Uhuru should do away with the DP whom they accuse of demeaning Luo kingpin Raila Odinga.

“I am told that the president will be here soon but we want to caution him from coming with Ruto. We want people who can only preach peace. Ruto is fond of belittling other leaders and that attitude is unwanted. He is not welcome in this region of the country at all,” Kajwang’ said.
