Kisumu tomb raiders disappear with body of woman buried for the last two years  (Photo)

The remains of a woman buried in 2016 mysteriously disappeared from her grave in Kisumu county. Residents woke up to find the grave opened with an empty coffin.

The last time tomb raiders made headlines was in December 2017. Vandals attempted to dig out Ivan Ssemwanga’s grave to steal the coffin and the money thrown in his grave during his burial.

Why exhume a poor woman’s grave?

Residents in Nyakach, Kisumu County don’t understand why anyone could raid the grave of a woman who was not buried in an expensive coffin or with money.

The deceased’s father Michael Okello ruled out land quarrels as the likely reason why someone exhumed his daughter’s body at night.

Some local residents say it could be an act of resurrection while other believe the grave was raided for witchcraft practices.
