Man who urged Raila to get weapons from Russia causes drama at police cell

A man who goes viral on TikTok for his political content, Shadrack Orwa Omondi alias Omosh Jakababa, was released on bail after being charged with inciting violence.

Omosh was charged with using abusive and threatening words while asking ‘Baba’ to go to Russia and bring guns. The prosecution said he uttered the words with intent to provoke a breach of peace on May 9 at an unknown place within the country.

His lawyer, Danstan Omari, asked the court to release him on lenient bond terms, saying that the case was political and that the state was known for withdrawing charges. He also said that Omosh was a young man who was fighting for the rights of millions of Kenyans on the high cost of living.

The magistrate released Omosh on a cash bail of Sh50,000 or a bond of Sh100,000. The case will be mentioned on August 2.

Omosh is a popular figure on TikTok, where he has over 1 million followers. He is known for his humorous videos about politics and current affairs. He has also been critical of the government on a number of occasions.

His arrest and subsequent release on bail has drawn attention to the issue of freedom of expression in Kenya. Some people have argued that his arrest was politically motivated, while others have said that he should be held accountable for his words.

The case is likely to be closely watched by Kenyans who are concerned about the state of freedom of expression in the country.
