Gospel singer banned from going to Congo after conning bishop KSh100k

Tanzanian gospel singer is hitting the headlines yet again after allegedly conning a pastor.

Bahati Bukuku has now been banned by the Congolese government from entering, performing or doing just about anything in the country after she conned a pastor a clean 100,000 shillings.

Blame game

According to Tanzanian newspaper Imani, Bahati had been contracted by a Congolese bishop named Wamwabi to perform at a concert for KSh 200,000. She was then given a down payment of shilling 100k to perform but disappeared after that.

Bukuku claimed the organisers breached the contracted and that’s why she opted not to go.

“They advertised the event using my name saying I was going to perform at the concert. That wasn’t the agreement. We had also agreed in our contract that they will send me air fare, but they did not. So, did they expect me to land in Congo through a miracle? Tanzanians know my character. I haven’t conned anyone. I am God’s servant,” she said.

The pastor, who is a well connected man in the country, went ahead and pushed for the ban so that it could be a lesson to other artists who pull similar moves.

Bahati Bukuku safe and sound

As far as we know, the gospel singer is now safe and sound. It is however new to hear a gospel singer is being chased away from Congo by rebels.
