Wema Sepetu has long been rumored to have an affair with Freeman Mbowe – the chairman of Tanzanian opposition party CHADEMA.
The rumor gained momentum when Wema accompanied Freeman to court for the hearing of his case, the two sat next to each other and appeared to be flirting during the hearing.
A leaked VoiceNote of a conversation alleged to be that of Wema Sepetu and Freeman Mbowe further made the rumor appear to hold water.

Wema Sepetu has now opened up about her relationship with mheshimiwa in an interview with EATV. The former beauty queen dismissed the claims she was having an affair with Freeman saying that she respects the politician so much that she’s even afraid of him.
“I was shocked, sijui chochote kuhusu hicho kitu. Mimi mwenyewe sijui kilipoanzia na kwanza ninavyomuheshimu yule baba mpaka namuogopa sasa hili lilipotokea i was like hizi ni figisu. Ingawa sijakutana na Mbowe toka jambo hili kutokea kwa sababu yupo busy lakini viongozi wengine wa CHADEMA walinielewesha ni kwa nini watu wanafanya hivyo. Unajua hizi ni siasa. Huku ni upinzani na wengine ndiyo wapo madarakani so mambo kama haya ya kisiasa yanatokea ingawa huyo aliyetengeneza sauti kufanana na ya kwaangu yupo vizuri sana,” Wema Sepetu explained.
