AKA allegedly in debt of R2 millions

AKA has reportedly landed in hot water with the taxman and owes him a whopping R2 million.

According to City Press, AKA also owes his previous record label, Vth Season at least R650 000.

The Details

The report claims that AKA’s former manager, Raphael Benza took the rapper to court over the outstanding amount, which was supposed to be settled by the end of November.

“We have been lenient about the payment due because of their cash flow and Sars challenges, but we cannot wait indefinitely. We would like to wrap up the matter as soon as possible,” said Benza’s lawyers.

AKA’s lawyer, Oupa Baloyi told the paper that the rapper’s previous management was responsible for the money owing to Sars and that it had accumulated over the years.

“He [Benza] created this. As his manager, it was his responsibility to advise him about all financial and tax issues as part of his management duties, in accordance with a management agreement,” Oupa said.

However, Benza slammed the claims saying it was the responsibility of an artist to pay tax on their personal income.

“I advised Kiernan regularly to pay Sars and he told me he was paying,” said Benza.

AKA slams owing money reports

Seven months ago, AKA parted ways with record label, Vth Season. Since then, he has had a few altercations with his former manager, Raphael Benza.

Clear the air

AKA took to Twitter, and accused Vth Season of planting false stories about him in the media. He claimed that this is aimed at “keeping the lights on.”

AKA has in the past appeared in court together with Raphael Benza. This is after the company alleged that he owed them R500,000. Recent reports however show that he owes R2million in penalties. AKA’s lawyers blame Raphael for this.

“He created this. As his manager, it was his responsibility to advise him about all financial and tax issues. As part of his management duties, in accordance with a management agreement,” they said.

AKA slammed the allegations saying, “Let me just say this, everything is 100% (on my side). I don’t owe SARS any money. I wouldn’t be posting my watches or my cars if I did. This is nothing more than Vth Season and Benza planting stories (about me ) in the media.”

When reached out to for comment, Raphael said, “I’ll be happy to make a comment should AKA mention my name or Vth Season. Right now his rant has nothing to do with me. It’s cowardly and paranoia to think someone is out to get you.”

AKA claims that his tweet helped promote the #FillUpFNBStadium

Rapper AKA  caused a frenzy when he took to Twitter over the weekend to suggest that he wanted to help Cassper Nyovest fill up FNB Stadium, well thus came with alot of criticism from Caspers’s fans and fellow celebrities.

In a video posted to Twitter this week, East Coast Radio’s Bongani Mtolo suggested that AKA was attempting to ride Cassper’s wave by offering to help his rival.

What he had to say:

“All of a sudden AKA wants to join and wants them to partner up and do it half-half. No guy. They were beefing, they must carry on beefing. What we are focusing on right now is filling FNB Stadium and that is all that needs to be there. AKA must just sit down and stop trying to get in this guy’s shine,” Bongani said.

AKA took to Twitter to slam Bongani and claimed that his offer had “actually helped promote” Cassper’s #FillUpFNBStadium.

“This type of divisive thinking is so unfortunate. Personally, I think my tweets actually helped promote the event. Spread positivity. Not this,” he tweeted.

AKA and Bonang show that “A couple that balls together stays together”

It’s no secret that AKA and Bonang are Mzansi’s power couple.

AKA and Bonang Matheba seem to be making more money now than they did before as their brands keep getting bigger. Bonang recently launched her App and partnered with Cell C, while AKA was chosen by Cruz vodka and Reebok to be their ambassador.

Along with that title comes a whole lot of serious dough. Over the past few years Bonang has raked in millions for her endorsement deals with Revlon, Wooolworths and, at the end of last year, was named as the African ambassador for Brazilian footwear brand, Ipanema.

Let’s not forget the string of MC and TV gigs that keeps her diary and bank balance bulging.

In July Bonang announced the launch of her own Bmoji range in partnership with Cell C.

Now Sunday World is reporting that Queen B raked in a whopping R3-million for the deal.

When asked for more information, Cell C told the paper that it could not comment on confidential information.

AKA has also been grinding hard to bring home that cheese. Last year the rapper told fans on Twitter that he charged between R90,000 and R130,000 per performance.

And since then he’s signed two mega deals. The Baddest rapper became the ambassador for Cruz Vodka last year, which apparently brought him  R8-million.

“Yes, AKA is the brand ambassador and is still on the campaign. The contract is worth R8-million,” AKA’s manager, Prince Costinyo told the paper.

Then two months ago AKA signed a “seven-figure” deal with Reebok when he became the face of the sportswear brand.

AKA wants to perform at the #FillUpFNBstadium

AKA and Cassper’s on-and-off feud once again dominated social media this past weekend when AKA took to Twitter to announce that it was time for the rivals to bury the hatchet and work together at the concert for a “nice rack” (money).

Cassper seemingly responded to AKA’s offer by tweeting: “Just buy a ticket to #FillUpFnbStadium broer…”.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, AKA said he would definitely perform at Cassper’s show if he was approached.

“We haven’t spoken yet and I doubt he (Cassper) will approach me to be part of the show but I am serious about performing,” AKA said.

The rapper said that he was just “being entertaining,” when he attached a R1-million price tag to his performance, but believed the pair could work together if the price was right.

Meanwhile, Cassper’s manager Lerato ‘T-Lee’ Moiloa said the rapper had “moved on” from his feud with AKA and refused to comment on whether there was a possibility of the rappers performing together at FNB Stadium next month.

After AKA’s comments on Twitter, dozens of local celebs threw their weight behind Cassper’s attempt to fill the stadium, with Black Coffee and Riky Rick both pledging to give away more than R20,000 worth of tickets.

T-Lee said that Cassper was confident “more than ever” of becoming the first hip-hop artist in the world to fill the iconic venue.

“He’s grateful for all the support. The concert is really uniting Africa and bringing people together. It is being spoken about outside of South Africa and he is happy that it is making an impact. People are starting to understand that this is so much bigger than just him,” T-Lee added.

Well fam what do you think of AKA wanting to perform alongside Cassper?

AKA Slams cheating Rumours.

South African rapper AKA has come out to blast cheating rumours. This comes after a local tabloid stated that AKA was cheating on his girlfriend Bonang with a socialite.

The tabloid later went on to add that AKA was spotted with the socialite in a popular club and was later seen taking photos with AKA’s car.

Speaking to Tshisha Live,AKA labelled the rumours “bullsh*t” and challenged anyone with proof of the alleged affair to come forward.

“It is not true. The claims are ridiculous. Someone just took a picture with my car and now I am cheating? I read the article and I think it is bullsh*t. In fact, I want anyone with pictures proving she was at the boxing with me to come forward,” he said.

AKA said the rumour would have been more believable if there were signs that Bonang and him were going through a rough patch, but said this couldn’t be further from the truth.

“I don’t usually comment on my personal life but it is ridiculous. Me and Bonang are happy. It would have been believable if we were not or if we had problems. But we are in a good space and have never been stronger. It won’t change our relationship because we don’t listen to what people say,” he added.

The star recently came to Bonang’s defense on social media in the face of criticism over her book, questioning why South Africa ridiculed her story while women were being abused and killed by their partners.

The rapper later told TshisaLIVE that he often spoke out not because he felt he needed to protect Bonang, but because he felt to address the issue in that moment.

“I don’t even do it from a perspective of having to defend her or fight her battles. I don’t see it as going online for that purpose or picking a time (to defend her). There is no formula, there is no thinking. I just exist. What comes out my mouth, comes out of my mouth. I say what comes out my mouth. Whatever I feel like saying in that moment, I will,” AKA said.
