Tit for tat? Flying Squad raid the house of Joho’s close ally a day after the Mombasa governor chased police out of his compound

The friction between Mombasa governor and the government is thought to be the reason why police officers raided the house of his close ally today.

Daily nation reports that Flying Squad officers have today raided the house of Arub Ibrahim Katri, a close ally of Hassan Joho. The officers rummage through household items before they left.

Just yesterday, Joho locked out police officers sent to guard his house in Nyali in a move that was interpreted as hitting back at Jubilee for withdrawing his security.

Coast Regional Coordinator, Nelson Marwa ,had said the government was planning to mop up illegal guns at the Coast ahead of the August general election.

Flying Squad raid at the house of Joho’s ally could be part of the plan Marwa was talking about because he also said the operation would mainly target licensed owners, especially VIPs, who were abusing the privilege. Joho’s ally is a licensed firearm holder.
