Why is it that women are leading in cases of conning MPesa agents? Every time you hear MPesa agents have been tricked into depositing fake currencies the suspects are usually women.
The proverbial 40 days of a thief had finally reached for one Elizabeth Wanjiru Kamau (29) and her accomplice Geoffrey Kamau Maina (32).
The two together with a third suspect who managed to escape, were busted while trying to deposit Kes 50,000 fake currency at an M-Pesa outlet in Embu town.
They made it rain
The MPesa outlet owner Faith Wambui suspected the authenticity of the currencies and raised the alarm. The suspects grabbed the money and threw it in the air to confuse people and before running for dear lives.
Elizabeth and Geoffrey were however not lucky in their escape. They were caught and beaten silly by an angry mob that was baying for blood.
Elizabeth was stripped and forced to walk in her birthday suit in the streets of the town. Police intervened to arrest the suspect before the angry mob could lynch them.
