Kenya Power: Network breakdown affects prepaid token purchase

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced that a network breakdown from its service provider has affected the purchase of prepaid tokens.

In a statement on Thursday, KPLC said that customers are unable to purchase prepaid tokens through M-Pesa or the USSD code *977#. However, customers can still buy tokens from their banking halls, Airtel Money, and authorized banks.

KPLC said that it is working to resolve the issue and apologized for the inconvenience.

“We are working with our service provider to restore the affected services as soon as possible,” the company said.

The network breakdown is the latest in a series of problems that have affected KPLC’s services in recent months. In May, the company experienced a nationwide outage that left millions of customers without power.

KPLC has been criticized for its poor customer service and its inability to maintain its infrastructure. In a recent survey, only 13% of Kenyans said that they were satisfied with KPLC’s services.

The network breakdown is likely to add to the frustration of KPLC customers. The company has been urged to improve its customer service and to invest in its infrastructure to prevent future outages.
