Mwalimu Rachel discusses marriage and role models

Media personality Rachel Muthoni, known as Mwalimu Rachel, recently shared her insights on family and motherhood, expressing contentment with her current family dynamic.

As a single mother raising her 10-year-old son, Rachel spoke to industrious entertainment journalist, Liz Ngigi, highlighting her belief that family revolves around her relationship with her child.

“To me, being a mother to my 10-year-old boy defines what family means. While traditional African norms often depict a family as comprising a father, mother, and children, times have changed,” she explained.

Rachel expressed pride in her family’s unconventional structure, noting that modern society accepts and embraces families with single parents and their children.

“My bond with my family is invaluable, and I’m committed to their well-being,” she affirmed.

Regarding the prospect of expanding her family, the former NRG radio host disclosed that she currently has no plans for more children. However, she remains open to the idea if she meets the right partner.

“If there’s a man who resonates with me, perhaps my perspective could change,” she reflected.

Beyond her biological child, Rachel assumes a maternal role in the lives of others, providing support to individuals by assisting with their education and mentoring high school students.

“Besides my own child, I consider myself a maternal figure to many others,” she shared.

When asked about her role models, Rachel cited Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama as influential women she deeply admires.

“Oprah Winfrey’s journey from humble beginnings to her current stature is incredibly inspiring. Her positive outlook and impactful endeavors are commendable,” she remarked.

Rachel also praised Michelle Obama for her grace, strength, and resilience in maintaining her family unit.

“Michelle Obama epitomizes grace and resilience, both in her role as a former First Lady and as a family-oriented woman. She’s a remarkable example of fortitude and dignity,” Rachel concluded.
