One lesson we can all learn from Papa Dennis’ death

About a fortnight ago, Kenyans were shocked when they learnt that gospel singer Dennis Mwangi, popularly known as Papa Dennis, had jumped to his death in Nairobi’s Pangani Estate.

What was astounding was not even how he died but the fact that he had been sleeping in the studio after his landlord locked him out of his rented apartment and he could not even afford to feed himself.

The truth is, the Papa Dennis that we all knew was filthy rich, or at least we thought so. The guy would often be seen flaunting wads of cash on social media, showing off his posh home, driving luxurious cars, name it.

The Nashukuru hitmaker even had collabos with the likes of Chidinma, Korede Bello, Flavour, Ray C, just to name a few. Anyone can tell you just don’t wake up one morning and get on a track with these artists.

I have immense respect for the dead but it does not make sense. Did he squander all his money or was he living a lie because his story does not make sense however hard you try to understand it.

There are rumors that his problems began after he parted ways with his promoter Sadat Muhindi who is the founder of Maliza Umaskini Foundation but we won’t talk about that today because it’s hearsay.

Papa Dennis

However, one thing that we can talk about and I’m hoping we can all learn a lesson from is living your truth or being yourself. This applies to celebrities, politicians and everyone – you and me.

You see, there is no need going around telling people that you are filthy wealthy and how your life is glamorous but it really isn’t. I don’t know why people even do that.

You see, eventually the truth will come out and people will hate you for being a fraud when you could have just lived a normal life like the rest of us who are not deep pocketed. Hi Kobi Kihara! Okay, that was not really necessary.

Flavour and Chidinma didn’t come to play in their new jam titled ‘Nkem’ (Video)

Award-winning Nigerian singer Chinedu Okoli, popularly as Flavour N’abania or simply Flavour, has teamed up with Chidinma on a new jam and it’s getting a lot of love.

The song titled Nkem, which is off their EP dubbed 40 Yrs or Everlasting, talks about this beautiful lady that Flavour can not get enough of. In the song, he says he’s ready to do anything just to have her for the rest of his life.

In his verse, Flavour says, “When I say you be my final bus stop, cause in you, I’ve seen the treasure I was looking for, and today, I make this vow to you, my eternity, I wanna spend it with you, You belong to me, I belong to you baby.”

To be honest, this song is a beautiful composition and I really love it. I don’t know about you but as I was listening to it, it evoked some emotions and got me thinking about a particular person. Anyway, I’m just kidding.

Both Flavour’s and Chidinma’s voice on this jam are amazing. If you ask me, I’ll tell you that it’s the reason why I have had it on replay for the last few days. I can’t stop enjoying it.

Of course, the beat and instrumentation is also on point. Though for this kind of song i.e. a ballad I guess that does not even matter to anyone because it’s mostly about the lyrics and vocals but then again maybe it’s just me.

Listen to Nkem below and tell us what you think.

Chidinma and Flavour’s new jam “40 years ” is worth your time(Video)

Nigerian music artists are on a musical spree in releasing EPs that is just what might be needed. With artists like Teniola, Runtown among others having their latest jams allover, one would say they are on the right track.

This time celebrated musicians Chidinma and Flavour have teamed up for a release of a new jam dubbed “40 years “.

This is amidst the speculations of a collaborative EP release by the two.

In what seems like a love song it also gives you a reason to a grove and reminisce about love.

40 yrs

40 years is just one of the songs among many that fans should watch out for. These two did not come to play.

However, “40yrs Everlasting” EP had exceptional production preference from Oscar, Masterkraft, Fiokee and Elense Bakassi.

Further in the song, the two characters are talking about their love and what it means to them now and what it will be at “40 yrs” on.

40 yrs

On the other hand, still with speculations of whether  Flavor and Chidinma are a couple, we must admit they look good together.

The “Ololufe” hitmakers raised eyebrows when they were caught on camera locking lips on several occasions. Well, we will keep our eyes open to this.

They go on to tell us how they going to love each other 40 yrs from now. Chidimna says she will keep cuddling and holding him.

Lyrics

She further says that no matter what happens they have to stick together for the sake of love.

Without their money, they say their love is more important.

Flavor

This is what seems like the ultimate vow exchange kinda song. Why? Because it states all the vows like “In sickness and in poor health, Na who go dey by your side, You’re the real one Dey with you soldier we go fight till the end…”

I mean who doesn’t want this kind of love?

They both did justice to the song vocally and the visuals too were well put.

As we keep waiting for the complete Ep we must give it to them. Good job. I am sure Kenyan fans like me are not disappointed at all.

For rating, I will go with 8/10. Tell us what you think.
