Hon. Charles Njagua popularly known as musician Jaguar, the immediate former Starehe Constituency Member of Parliament has been nominated as the CAS at the Ministry of Youth Affairs,the Arts & Sports.
The announcement was made earlier in the evening by President Ruto and he was named alongside 48 other candidates whose names were submitted for vetting by Parliament on March 2nd.
Jaguar joins a number of politicians who lost their elective seats in last year’s general election but who found redemption through the nomination by President William Ruto to the position of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS).
He took to his social media to thank Ruto for the appointment saying, “I would like to thank H.E the President William Ruto,Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for your trust in me by nominating me for the position of CAS Youth and Sports ,the entire UDA administration for the tireless efforts that have put in place to streamline the government.
To the people of Starehe this one belongs to you.You trusted me to serve you and challenged to do better.Mbarikiwe sana”
Video of ailing Starehe MP Jaguar in hospital raises concern
Jaguar was recently at the hospital after suffering an injury to his leg that necessitated surgery and when it was all said and done, it was a pretty standard and routine one that had minimal risks but from the way your favourite celebrities reacted, you would have been forgiven for thinking it was open-heart surgery.
Everyone from DK Kwenye Beat to Bahati and DJ Mo to some of the P-Unit members. It was rather comical seeing how unbothered the Starehe MP seemed in the photos of alot of these visits and then contrast that to how alert and attentive he was when it was Deputy President Ruto who was visiting.

And aside from the 7 chuckles I managed to get in about the entire situation, I found myself wondering why everyone was trooping over to meet Jaguar. Actually, that topic came up while I was kicking it with my friends.
I believe the reason for that is that these artists are seeing an opportunity to worm their way into his inner circle because elections are right around the corner and they would like a cut of his purse as he goes around campaigning.
Bwana Njagi seems disinterested
You see, in political circles, most of the older politicians think of Jaguar as a link to the youth. He is an artist, and was somewhat popular during his career so perhaps he is the key to connecting with young voters.
What that further means for your favourite celebs is that they can gain access to the older politicians and perhaps get incorporated into their campaigns either as strategists or entertainers. And at the end of the day, with the way William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta have destroyed the economy, there aren’t that many avenues of income for them so they might aswell jump onto these ones.
And Jaguar is not a fool either. He knows this. That is why a lot of photos of the celebrities visiting him feature him looking rather distant and distracted. He is self aware enough to know most of them merely want to be around him because of the power he wields as a sitting MP.
Babu Owino is currently in the crosshairs of the Kenyan public as citizens and netizens agitate for a victim in a shooting he is seen as culpable for, DJ Evolve.
Kenyans have even set up a digital petition to call for the government and the judiciary, in particular, to see that the matter is not only speedily concluded but is also concluded in a just and fair manner.
The Babu Owino situation actually has injected some much needed civic participation in political matters as many had decried the perception the Embakasi East Member of Parliament had been cleansed of his past inequities by his acceptance of the BBI move and his eagerness to sing songs about it.
But even as we look into the matter and ensure DJ Evolve gets the justice he and indeed the rest of us Kenyans so desperately need, we need to remember yet another young member of parliament also had a situation that was resolved in a less than transparent manner and many felt justice had been cheated and defeated.
And in this part we are going to put away Babu Owino momentarily and focus on Starehe Member of Parliament Jaguar or as the government knows him, Charles Kanyi Njagua.
Does anyone remember that he was involved in some obscure capacity in an accident that was so sketchy the only clear aspect of it is that it resulted in the deaths of some pedestrians? And the outcome of that is that he ended up in court to answer for the accident that cost the lives of Kenyans and it was silently resolved in 2019.
The accident occurred at Makutano on the Nairobi-Nyeri highway, within Kirinyaga County on March 21, 2017 along Sagana and in February Jaguar who had some beef at one time with Babu Owino, was convicted of the deaths.
And he was apparently asked to pay forty thousand in restitution. Let that sink in. Two people died; a bodaboda operator and his passenger and what punishment was instituted against Jaguar? The princely sum of forty thousand Kenya shillings or 400 UsD.
How then can we say we do not understand why Babu Owino is unfazed with the cries for justice that a section of the Kenyan populace is making? He is clearly just following the logical observations made in the case of his colleague Jaguar. And now, Jaguar is currently in court facing charges of incitement in a country where post-election violence was an actual thing…
Let that realization sink in. We as a society expect the Babu Owinos and Jaguars not to act in a manner similar to this if they know that their actions will have no repercussions to meet them.
Charles Kanyi aka Jaguar has left social media talking after buying a plane.
The politician took to social media to flaunt his plane that is not so new leaving many awed. Jaguar bought one of the planes that were being auctioned by KAA for a throw-away price.
Jaguar paid a clean Ksh 120,000 for the 5H-SKT which was among the cheapest in the list released by KAA early this month. He’s now using the plane as a decoration at his fancy house.
Kenyans however, were rather shocked that he was ready to part with all that cash to buy the rusty airplane that clearly can’t fly.
2014
This is not the first time Jaguar is in the news for buying a plane. In 2014, the MP bragged that he has just bought a plane for his business travels.
“On my private jet for private bizness with my homeboy Trapee… Like how things change when you believe…Thank God. Last call before I am off….love my life,” the Kigeugeu hitmaker wrote on July 12, 2014.
