If you have good taste in music like yours truly, then I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of a Kenyan band by the name Just Imagine Africa. If you haven’t, well, it’s better late than never.

The group, which comprises of; Michael Mugo, Brian Joseph, Daniel Mbithi, Wambui Ng’ang’a, Arlon Mwangi, Joel Djowa, Dominic Juma and Marlon Aduvaga is behind big hits like Mumbi, Madame Wa Kenya and Like Heaven.

Their music style is mostly Afro fusion, pop and reggae and that is why I was surprised when Michael Mugo, the lead vocalist, released a song titled Bangi about a fortnight ago.

I’m not saying the song is bad. I was more of a pleasant surprise. I’ve listened to Bangi a couple of times since it came out and every time I play it, it’s like I am listening to it for the very first time. Yup, it’s that good. Trust me.

Bangi is a comical and creative tune. If you are a stoner maybe, just maybe you’ll resonate with it and you might have it playing in the background the next time you light a joint.

Michael Mugo has a unique ability to play around with words and make dope rhymes. He had me scratching my head the whole time as I tried to make sense of it all.

The hook is also very catchy and easy to master. Believe you me, you’ll find yourself singing along after listening to it twice or maybe thrice.

The beat on this song slaps really heard and blends well with his vocals. Notably, the video is also great. I totally love how it’s simple. The editing, especially the scene transitioning, is also on point.

Watch Bangi below and tell us what you think. Enjoy.
