Interview: “I will run for president if people ask me to.” Hon Kyagulanyi

You have been in Parliament for a year now. What have you done for the people of Kyadondo East?

I told my voters that my main job is going to be outside Parliament within the people and the field. I know I am an MP for Kyadondo East but I happen to represent a huge constituency of young people who think like me, who aspire for the same things I aspire for. As you have seen; my work has been extensive not just confined in Kyadondo but all over the country in all manners and shapes. I found that my effort was needed to bring the same change that came to Kyadondo in other places particularly as we speak now, we’re trying to change Bugiri.

Your critics say that you are in ‘bed’ with President Museveni. Handshakes, soldiers saluting you, letters to each other, are you and Museveni buddies?

The biggest mistake that people make is to think that their enemies are our enemies. I have seen the president shaking hands with many other leaders and I think it is civil for me to give a hand when the president wants to shake my hand even when we disagree in perspective. My kind of leadership doesn’t look out for enmities and conflicts I did not start but rather for solutions.

Secondly, many lies have been told about me. Of course everywhere I go, many soldiers salute me. These are young men and women who have grown up seeing me. They know I am one of them.

How is your music doing now that you are a legislator?

Laughs, Great!

The police say you have to differentiate between Bobi Wine and Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi. Some of your songs were banned, concerts called off. How is that working out?

They (Police) have to differentiate between the police and an NRM enforcement wing. They banned my music, they tried to stop my shows but like I have always told them, you cannot stop an idea whose time has come. My songs are the most popular songs now. These guys are very old. We have a disconnection in ideas. They think we are still in times of Radio Uganda where if something is not published, it won’t reach the people. My music finds people in their bedrooms.

Do you intend to run for President?

Laughs. Now, that question has been asked so many times. You what you do think? If I hear enough people saying that I should run, I will make up my mind but now I still listening to the voices.

 

Justine Nameere Makes moves to block Faridah Nakazibwe from travelling to the US

Television personality Justine Nameere has run to the High Court’s Civil Division to block her rival Faridah Nakazibwe from travelling to the United States of America.

 

Faridah is expected  to co-host the upcoming Uganda Festival in the US but documents produced in court claim that it would be impossible for the court to issue an order against her in a defamation case in which Nameere is demanding for Shs500m  in damages.

According to Justine Nameere, Faridah Nakazibwe has not been compliant.

She says:

Nakazibwe wrote the worst allegations about me, for everything she alleged she claimed to have evidence including videos and audios but interestingly she has failed to produce even one statement of evidence in court. She has dodged the summons even after extension of time. I don’t hire a dog and bark. I hired lawyers to get me justice if they believe this woman is being dodgy and suspect that it’s because she might leave the country it’s their job to tell court to compel her to finish the case first before she leaves. And the application is not to block her from going to the US, it is to any country unless she shows cause to court process. The same way she sued red pepper for defaming her is the same way she was sued for defaming someone. What is good for the goose is good for the gander! No body has bull shitting rights over others, when you breach someone’s rights, you be ready to face the consequences! Now this sympathy seeking of twisting information to get Nameere attacked will not work. The ridicule and abuses only make my case stronger. And oh my…her post still stands on her page yet she can’t defend it in court?! Lastly let’s stop misusing the words “jealousy/ envy”. Me and Nakazibwe have totally different journeys. Am a Lawyer, business owner and part time TV talk show host and producer while she’s a full time journalist. Let’s not imagine situations.

Tarrus Riley not coming Uganda

In December last year, Ugandans were delighted after it was announced that legendary singer, Tarrus Riley, was set to perform at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Unfortunately, the joy and smile dried up on their faces after the organizers,   Red fog events company later confirmed that the Jamaican superstar would not turn up following a series of disputes .

This year, Swangz Avenue promised Ugandans that they would fly in Tarrus Riley on the 31st of August as they celebrate 10 years of service in the entertainment industry.

In a previous exclusive interview we had with Benon Mugumbya, Director Swangz Avenue,  he informed us that this is a local celebration and an international artiste would join them at the grand finale at Cricket Oval, Lugogo.

However, Tarrus Riley has came out to publish his official tour guide and surprisingly, Uganda is not on the list.

We tried to reach out to Swangz Avenue for a comment but our efforts were futile.

New couple Alert: Desire Luzinda and Hanson Baliruno Inseparable

Musicians Desire Luzinda and Hanson Baliruno have become inseparable.

“On most Sundays, they go out together especially in places that are not crowded. They drink, and retreat to hotel rooms, or sometimes Desire’s home,” says a source.

The two were first sighted together at the Abryanz Fashion Awards show in December last year. They are said to have booked into a room for a weekend at Serena together but Luzinda denied the claims.

Baliruno is loaded and it is his money that has Desire falling over heels.

Chris Evans father dies after Toilet collapses on him

Singer Chris Evans is mourning the loss of his father. 70-year-old Benard Ssonko, former resident of kajjansi, Nakigalala zone and a young brother to Chris Evan’s biological father yesterday lost his life after his dilapidated pit latrine collapsed while he was answering the call of nature.

Sam Lutwama, the village chairman stated that the pit latrine was weakened by heavy rains.

Pasco Muyingo the deceased’s neighbor said that he heard voices of Ssonko screaming from the latrine and he ran to help him but it was too late as the pit was too deep yet he had no rope or ladder.

Later on, police from Kajjansi came and removed the deceased’s body and took it to Mulago hospital where his family picked it and later buried him in a place only known as Makandwa.

DJ Nimrod Spends 15 million on Birthday Party

Dj Nimrod added another year last week on Sunday while at his singles all white beach bash but he was meant to celebrate it officially a week later.

News reaching our desk indicates that the Galaxy Fm deejay threw a bash for friends, family and workmates at Club Amnesia worth a whopping 15 Million Uganda shillings.

The party was an only invite in the Club Amnesia V.I.P Lounge and it saw a number of celebrities storm the Plaza building based hangout spot.

Dj Nimrod’s guests were treated to expensive whiskies and an open bar for people to enjoy as they danced to mixes from his workmates at Galaxy Fm.

Comedian Alex Muhangi Hosting Comedy show in Kigali

Alex Muhangi has made a success of his comedy store at UMA making him one of Uganda’s highly paid Comedian.

News reaching our news desk indicates that the Comedian is set to perform in Kigali Rwanda.

Our snoops have learnt that the show is dubbed Seka Live 4 and will be hosted on 1st July at Kigali Serena Hotel Rwanda.

Alex announced the good news through one of his social media platforms, ” My Kigali pipoz, ya Bouy z coming this Sunday.”  Muhangi  posted.

Alex Muhangi adds to the likes of Kansiime Anne and Salvador Idringi who have hosted comedy shows in foreign countries.

Geosteady Blackman finally Ends Relationship with Baby mama

Musician Geosteady has no kind words for his ex-girlfriend, Prima, who is the mother of his only child Sorayah.

The two have had an off and on kind of relationship but they recently put a stop to it all. Asked what led to it, Geosteady says Prima is not constructive.

The only thing she knows best is to slay on Facebook, says Geosteady. He says he tried to start businesses for her but she was never active.

Geosteady has since found another woman.

Qute Kaye Back on his feet, relocates to Makindye

Singer Qute Kaye’s bad days seem to be way behind him now. News reaching us is that Kaye finally relocated from his dingy rental in Busega to a better house in Makindye.

However, our source could not readily confirm if the move was funded by Irene Nalubwama aka Maama Lususu, the owner of Sure Deal cosmetics who came out and pledged to fund Kaye and rehabilitate him to start living like the star he used to be.

However, we have learnt that Kaye might have extra help from Rema Namakula’s manager- Geoffrey Kayemba who signed him up in the wake of his misdeeds that earned him extreme public humiliation.

We have been reliably informed that Kaye moved in with his girlfriend Pretty Glo and according to our source, all seems to be going well. Our source told us that all is set for Kaye to start releasing music and try to reclaim his lost glory. All the best Kaye!

Weasel says he can’t afford to bail Longtime manager Chagga out of Jail

Talent manager, Chagga might serve all six months in jail after failing to solicit 18M,  that is demanded by a music promoter, who had him detained .

Chagga was arrested a couple of days ago, and has since been behind the coolers.

This is after he received a deposit of 2.5m out of 5m as booking fee to have the Goodlyfe boys perform in Luwero. The Goodlyfe did not turn up, but sang at a nearby show, something which madly incensed the music promoter identified to us Paul.

Chagga has been calling all  his friends to his rescue, but not many are responding.

His artiste Weasel claims he has no money to save his longtime manager.

This was revealed by Paul, who confirms that  he called Weasel himself, but the artiste said, “I do not have even a penny,” and hang up.

Weasel is also wanted over the same matter. It is believed that the call inviting him to bring whatever he has was a bait to nab him as well.

Mckenzie Exits Radio City Ending his career in Radio

Regarded as one of the pioneer presenters on FM radio, Bryan Sabiiti Mckenzie has finally called it a day after over 10 years behind the microphone.

The 97 FM Radio City Presenter has announced his exit from the Bugolobi based radio station.

Bryan Mckenzie made the announcement through one of his social media platforms.

“So 6 months ago, I decided it was my time to take on my own journey and jump off the cliff. My mother ship has done enough for me to be able to sail on my own. June 29th (next Thursday) will be my last day on air on Radio City.

I want to thank you… you that has supported me all these years, I want to assure that you have so far got just a 25% of my energy and I want to get you the other 75 in a unique way with indepedent ideas with the same mindset you have supported over the years,” Kellagram events Director posted.

McKenzie further stressed that he is not joining any radio station. “NB I am not doing this to join another Radio Station,” Bryan concluded his long post.

It is remembered that Bryan McKenzie previously worked for Hot 100 FM, Spirit FM, Kampala FM and currently at Urban TV and Radio City, where he is quitting in a weeks time.

New Music Alert: Ykee Benda Releases New Music

Ykee Benda has been on top of charts for his good music ever since his breakthrough a few years ago, but has recently been investing so much in his music videos.

 

Few weeks ago, the “Farmer” singer released the much-anticipated video of his dancehall song, “Amina”.

 

The video is a definition of fine colour grading and lighting. It also portrays Ykee Benda’s sense of fashion.

 

The video dances were choreographed by dancer Eddy Wizzy and shot by Swangz Filmmaker, Marvin Musoke.

 

This video accompanies a very nice audio that was well received by fans.

Swangz Avenue Boss Blasts Irene Ntale Social Media Saga

Singer Irene Ntale exited Muyenga based music label, Swangz Avenue last year in January following a series of disputes.

She took on a solo music career since then, and she has been doing well locally with smash hits like “He go down”, “Kyolowoza” among many others.

Few days ago, it was alleged that Swangz Avenue had taken over control of her Facebook account, limiting her rights on the page.

Julius Kyazze, proprietor of Swangz appears as the administrator of the page while Irene Ntale  is just a mere editor according to a screen shot making rounds.

Speaking to Julius Kyazze, he informed us  that they are not ready for cheap talk and Irene is simply looking for publicity regarding her forthcoming show.”

” Why does she have to complain now, a few weeks to her show, ” Kyazze roared.

He furthermore made it clear that as Swangz Avenue they have no authority over her social media accounts ever since she deserted the label.

Mowzey Radio Charity School closed due to lack of Funds

In 2015, late Mowzey Radio partnered with St Maria Goretti Primary School in Buziga to help the young pupils with school necessities before he took full responsibility of the school a year after.

The sad news is that the school is no more. It currently has one pupil and the headteacher.

Our snoops have learnt that after the demise of Mowzey Radio in February, there was totally no one to provide for the pupils and teachers since most of the pupils were accessing the school and its resources at a free cost.

Furthermore, the school structures are set to be demolished after the land was allegedly grabbed by one of the rich residents of the area.

Zari Patners with Miss Uganda Pageant Team

Miss Uganda pageant is only getting better! In April, they unveiled a long term business partnership with Talent Africa Group. The two parties signed a three year joint venture agreement and plan to grow Miss Uganda into a world class beauty pageant.

 

Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we have been reliably informed that Zari Hassan and Miss Uganda have agreed on a long term partnership.

 

Speaking to Brenda Nanyonjo the CEO of the Miss Uganda Pageant, she revealed that Zari will not only be a judge and mentor of the contestants but also a partner. She further stated that they chose to work with Zari because she is an inspiration to many young women.

“Zari inspires a lot of young women not only in Uganda but East Africa as a whole. She is a good mother of five, she is flawless and good looking. She will only only be one of the judges but also mentor the girls”, Brenda Nanyonjo told Matooke Republic.

Kezzi Entertainment is the exclusive franchise holder of the Miss World Pageant for Uganda since 2011 making it seven years.
