Artists Msanii Foreman and David Wonder clearly Understood the Assignment!

There is a special generation of gospel artists that brought cool vibes. Gospel lost the austere, reprimanding tone to a danceable presentation that spilled over to funky school fests and TikTok challenges.

These artists include, amongst others – Bahati, Mr. Seed, Kelele Takatifu, Nimo Gachuiri, Msanii Foreman, Moji Short Babaa and my all time favorite – David Wonder.

Gospel artist Msanii Foreman

Gospel artists in Kenya have increasingly played rope with the fine line that splits gospel and secular – as fame and fortune grows. Not David Wonder.

The likeable, stylish artist with an endearing ‘little brother’ mien has managed a clean, scandal-free run and a string of hits that has cemented his name in the industry.

Who doesn’t remember the ageless hit ‘Ndogo Ndogo’ that featured David Wonder alongside Bahati?

Well, fast forward to 2024, he now features in a brand new hit by US-based Kenyan gospel artist Msanii Foreman, dubbed ‘Leo‘.

It’s a fresh offering by established Producer Sean on The Beat that’s set to cause a stir in an industry that has lately become quite lukewarm.

Leo‘ is a beautiful fusion of two artists with completely different styles. Msanii Foreman is versatile, either a rapper with that punchy, deep baritone or a capable singer who’d easily croon over bridges and choruses.

David Wonder brings his trademark vocals, that waltz over the keys in a very complimentary way.

The artist’s effortless chemistry results in a beautiful offering with danceable beats and easy, sing-along lyrics.

The ‘Leo‘ video is directed by DiDy – it does not disappoint, either. The director has nailed the basics – from concept visualization and location, to lighting that brings high, resolution coverage.

The beauty, though – is in perfomance. The artist’s performance is in perfect sync with the song’s theme and intended message – ‘Leo’.

It’s only the beginning, but it highly seems like we found the Gospel Song of The Year. I’ll keep my fingers crossed, and would easily pick on ‘Leo‘.

Msanii Foreman and David Wonder clearly understood the assignment. I’d say they delivered.

Too much make up or filter? Mr Seed and David Wonder trolled after appearing ‘dolled up’ in new photo

Gospel singer’s Mr Seed and David Wonder’s new song Baraka za Baba has been doing well; considering that they may be the only remaining new school gospel singers surviving in the Kenyan entertainment industry.

Well during their video shoot for the new song, seems like they also had to retouch their faces with some make up.

David Wonder with Mr Seed

Looking at a photo shared by Mr Seed, it’s easy to notice that the make up was minimum; until David Wonder decided to add some few filters on a similar-like photo giving fans something to talk about.

Online trolls!

Of course, just like Stivo simple boy’s photos fans also decided to use David Wonders comment section well.

Reading through the hilarious comments, fans advised the two to avoid filters and make up since they are guys! Others went on to call them out for trying to look beautiful – saying;

David Wonder brings you his new jam ‘Mgani’

David Wonder is back this time with ‘Mgani’. This jam comes in after his last release dubbed ‘Washangaze’. Wonder is signed under the Safri Label after ditching EMB records.

The Urban Contemporary gospel artist is back just like his counterpart Mr.Seed is trying to do. Mgani is a Swahili word which is commonly used as a query.

In this jam Mgani, Wonder is asking which man likeness himself to God. Also, it seems like it was an opening for him when he ditched EMB.

Production of ‘Mgani’

Wonder is truly talented. In addition to his talent, there is a great team behind the release of this jam. First this jam is his own doing.  The video was directed by Tom Gor and I must say he did some good work here.

Presentation

I will be lying if I tell you that I feel the song. As much as it is his work, he needs to up his work. There is no enough energy given to this song. Although I feel like something has been left out, the jam is slightly appealing.

Fans are the final say. In less than 24 hours, the song has 2000 views on youtube something that is rare for Kenyan gospel artists.

This guy truly knows the Holy book. He sings of the miracle that Jesus did. He says mwambie aje atembee juu ya maji. Am sure you all relate to the story.

Further, he has a voice that will attract you. In short, David Wonders never lacks wonders. Mgani has a target youth that is well defined. You realize that the kind of language targets the youth and the few others who relate to this style of music.

I give this jam a rating of 5/10. Gospel industry is slowly rising.

“Stop lying! Do you even know how we paid our maternity bill?” Mr Seed’s fiancé attacks Bahati

Bahati this last weekend shared quite a long story talking about how he helped his former EMB signed artists.

According to his posts, Bahati confessed to have always helped the likes of David Wonder and Mr Seed. Bahati says that they never made any profits but he only suffered loses since the artists he had signed did not bring in cash.

The gospel artist went on to “shame” his former buddies in a way not many would expect.

Mr Seed’s fiancé steps in

However turns out that Mr Seed’s girlfriend had been following up on the story through her Instagram page.

Having seen what Bahati wrote about her man, Nimo Gachuiri left several detailed comments correcting Bahati.

Nimo Gachuiri denied everything Bahati had been saying about her baby’s father and David Wonder since she witnessed it all. In fact according to the new Mum in town; Bahati was the only one who benefited from the hard work Seed and the others put into EMB records.

She went on to add,
