Charles Ouda, actor: last moments Castmates converse

Renowned actor Charles Ouda, known for his role as Principal Karani on the TV show “Salem,” passed away on February 3 at the age of 38, leaving behind a legacy of talent and love in the Kenyan entertainment industry.

His final moments were captured by fellow actors during a wrap party for the popular TV show, providing glimpses of the vibrant spirit that defined his life.

Jackie Matubia, who attended the 90’s themed wrap party, shared poignant moments from the event, showcasing Ouda’s lively presence. She posted videos of Ouda dancing to an upbeat song and interacting with fellow cast and crew members.

In a heartfelt message, she expressed her disbelief and sorrow, stating, “My heart is broken. Someone, please wake me up. Just yesterday you were so full of life, Charlie.”

Matubia reflected on the pain of recapping the joyful moments of the previous day in the wake of Ouda’s sudden departure. “I didn’t think today I would be recapping yesterday like this. It’s so painful; I just want to sleep and wake up and find you have sent me 20 reels and call me J!” Matubia added, highlighting the profound impact of Ouda’s presence.

Another actor present at the wrap party shared a touching revelation about the evening, stating, “We were with Charlie last night, and he was very happy and full of life. He even gave us a big speech which, in hindsight, was ‘goodbye.’ He majorly talked about LOVE. May this message resound in all our hearts and lives. He had so much love in his heart. May his spirit of love guide us in everything we do, see, speak or think! Rest in Love, Charlie.”

Ouda, known for his role as Principal Karani on Salem, left an indelible mark on the show, contributing not only to his acting prowess but also to imparting valuable training to his colleagues.

A statement from the Salem TV series expressed deep sadness over Ouda’s passing and acknowledged his talent, professionalism, and role as a mentor to many in the industry. The statement extended thoughts and prayers to his family, fiancée, fans, and the entire film industry.

His older sister, Elizabeth Ouda, officially announced the news of Ouda’s passing, expressing deep sorrow and requesting privacy for the family, especially for Ouda’s fiancée, Ciru Muriuki.

As the entertainment industry mourns the loss of a talented actor, Ouda’s legacy is remembered not only for his contributions to Kenyan entertainment but also for the love and vibrancy he brought to every moment of his life. May he rest in peace.
