DJ Joe Mfalme Narrates His Experience While In Jail

DJ Joe Mfalme has remained quiet since his release from jail after being detained for 14 days in connection with the murder of police officer Felix Kelian.

Mfalme was freed on condition of testifying for the prosecution, leading some to speculate that he betrayed his longtime friend, Hype Ballo, to save himself.

“People don’t know the full story, and since the matter is currently in court, I prefer not to comment on it. Public opinion is inevitable, but I want to make it clear that Hype Ballo and I are still in good terms. However, due to the ongoing investigations, we are not allowed to discuss the case,” DJ Joe said.

In a recent interview with Ankali Ray, Mfalme opened up a bit about his experience in jail. He described it as a time for reflection, with little else to do but “think, relax, and sleep.”

While Mfalme avoided discussing details of the case, he did address rumors of a rift between him and Ballo. He dismissed these claims, stating that most of the circulating stories are untrue, and that he and Ballo remain friends.

DJ Joe Mfalme Addresses Fans Calling Him A ‘Snitch’ For Ballo’s Detainment

DJ Joe Mfalme has spoken out about the criticism he faced following his release from custody in the ongoing murder investigation of senior DCI officer Felix Kelian. While Joe and six others were released, his hypeman, Allan Ochieng (alias Hype Ballo), remains detained as the prime suspect.

Some online critics accused Mfalme of cooperating with authorities in exchange for his freedom, labeling him a “snitch.” Mfalme, however, downplayed the criticism on Milele FM, stating that the public often speaks without full knowledge of the case.

He emphasized his continued good relationship with Ballo, despite limited communication due to the ongoing legal proceedings. “The truth will come out eventually,” he maintained.

“People don’t know the story; the matter is in court right now so I won’t talk about it. But you know public opinion is okay. I am okay being called a snitch because Ballo and I are on good terms, although we are not in communication because of the nature of the case,” Joe assured.

Mfalme expressed gratitude for the support he received from friends during his detention. He highlighted the importance of staying calm during such situations.

Meanwhile, Ballo is expected to be arraigned in court soon. Fellow MCs across the country have shown solidarity with him as his case progresses.

DJ Joe Mfalme Lands Several Bookings Shorlty After Being Released

Popular Kenyan DJ, Joe Mfalme (real name Joseph Mwenda), wasted no time in getting back to work after his release from detainment on April 8th, 2024. Just a day after a Kibera court judge ruled in his favor, Mfalme announced a string of upcoming gigs in Nairobi and Mombasa.

Mfalme’s busy schedule kicks off tonight at a popular Mombasa Road nightclub. He’ll then head to a venue in Nairobi’s Mirema neighborhood on Wednesday, before wrapping up the week with a performance at a club inside Nyali City Mall in Mombasa on Friday, April 12th.

The DJ’s release came amidst a murder investigation involving Detective Felix Kelian of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). Mfalme, along with six others, had been held in custody for two weeks to allow for a thorough investigation.

However, in a surprising turn of events, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) informed the court that Mfalme and the other six individuals, including three police officers, would now be assisting the prosecution as state witnesses.

Mfalme, who spent 14 days in custody, expressed relief at being cleared of murder charges following the court’s decision.

No case: DJ Joe Mfalme and five others exonerated of police murder charges

Renowned Kenyan DJ, Joe Mfalme, has been cleared of any wrongdoing after the Director of Public Prosecutions recommended him and five others to serve as state witnesses.

Simultaneously, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) directed that Allan Ochieng, also known as Hype Ballo, be charged with the murder of DCI Felix Kitosi.

Additionally, a miscellaneous case file involving Joseph Mwenda Munoru, alias DJ Joe Mfalme, his three associates, and three police officers, who were under investigation for Kitosi’s murder, has been closed.

Three police officers are under scrutiny in connection with the alleged murder of the senior detective from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The investigation was conducted by DCI Renson Mulele over a 14-day period.

“The ODPP has further recommended that the 1st accused, Allan Ochieng, be charged with the murder of the late senior detective attached to DCI Dagoreti. The ODPP has recommended that Allan Ochieng should enter a plea at the Kiambu Law Court and be charged with murder,” stated the ODPP.

The detective reportedly died in suspicious circumstances in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, last month.

Following the officer’s death, three officers, two men, and a woman from the Traffic Department were arrested and held at Riruta Police Station.

According to police reports, Kitosi passed away after being assaulted following a traffic accident. The report did not disclose names or the specifics of the assault.

“It was reported by one Reinhard Kintosi, the deceased’s brother, at about 1600 hrs today the 22nd of March 2024 that Inspector Felix Kelian Kitosi No.241451 of DCI Dagoretti died while undergoing treatment at Nairobi West Hospital.

“The deceased was involved in a non-injury road accident at Kikuyu market near Kikuyu police station on Saturday at about 0400 hrs. He had earlier complained of abdominal pains and was receiving treatment. Preliminary investigations reveal that he was assaulted by known persons following an altercation over the non-injury road accident,” stated the police report.

The delay in taking action against the four individuals linked to Kitosi’s death, despite his passing six days prior, raised concerns.

The DJ and his entourage were apprehended by police officers at a bustling club along Thika Road last month.

The altercation began after the late Kitosi inadvertently scratched the DJ’s car while leaving the parking lot.

Subsequently, the bouncers confronted the officer, removed him from the vehicle, and purportedly assaulted him.

They alleged that the officer was later taken to Kikuyu police station, where he was further assaulted by police officers while in custody.

His condition deteriorated, and he was transferred from Lang’ata Hospital to Nairobi West Hospital, where he eventually succumbed.

In the police report, it was confirmed that he had indeed been involved in an accident and subsequently assaulted. The report was filed by Reinhard, the deceased officer’s brother.

The nightclub management at the time denied the incident occurring on their premises, stating they were unaware of it.

“I can assure you that the incident never took place in the club. Just follow the matter closely, and you will know the truth. If it had occurred here, we would have resolved the issue,” stated the manager.

A state witness in the murder case of a deceased DCI cop is DJ Joe Mfalme.

In response to a letter dated April 5, 2024, from the Director of Public Prosecutions, DJ Joe Mfalme is slated to serve as a state witness in the murder case implicating Kabete Police Detective Felix Kelian.

The DPP’s letter recommends the inclusion of DJ Joe Mfalme as a witness among the seven respondents in the case.

Furthermore, the DPP has formally charged Allan Ochieng’, the first respondent, with the murder offense.

Allan Ochieng’ is scheduled to face these charges at the Kiambu High Court on Monday, April 8.

Stay tuned for further developments as the situation progresses.

DJ Joe Mfalme’s detention is ordered by the court, hence all Easter plans are canceled

DJ Joe Mfalme, currently detained, will be unable to fulfill several scheduled engagements over the Easter holidays due to ongoing legal proceedings.

During a court session on March 25, a defence lawyer pleaded for the court to reject the police’s application to remand DJ Joe Mfalme for 21 days, citing his numerous entertainment commitments. However, the prosecution argued that time was needed to complete investigations into the death of crime buster Felix Kelian Kitosi.

Despite the defence’s insistence on DJ Joe Mfalme’s release to honor his contractual obligations, the magistrate, Margaret Murage, ruled against it. She granted the police’s application to detain DJ Joe Mfalme and six others for 14 days, rejecting the DCI’s request for 21 days.

As a result, DJ Joe Mfalme, along with Eric Gathua and Simon Wanjiru, will be held at Muthangari police station, while Allan Ochieng will be detained at Kabete police station. Three officers, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Rotich, and Agnes Mogoi, will be held at Riruta police station. The case is scheduled to be heard on April 8, 2024.

DJ Joe Mfalme had a packed schedule of performances across various cities for the Easter weekend. However, with his detention, his upcoming shows, including corporate launch events in Nairobi, gigs in Nakuru, Kikuyu, and performances at Nairobi Street Kitchen, Texas Barbecue, Bar Next Door, and the Meau Football Challenge event in Meru, are now uncertain.
