How Mwalimu Churchill molded Eric Omondi’s comedy career – Eric explains

We all have our pasts, ones that tested our patience but still saw us break through.

Now crowned the President of Comedy in Africa, Eric Omondi did not sprout to fame with a day’s work.

Recalling his early days, still green in the field of comedy, the funny man narrated how Godfather of comedy, Churchill discovered the talent in him but with much hustle.

Breakthrough

The two crossed paths in Daystar University, where Eric was hosting an event and Churchill was the guest of honor.

Since then, Eric’s life took a different turn. He shared his journey during Churchill Show’s Sunday episode.

I met Churchill in Daystar while I was hosting an event in which he was the guest of honor…He saw me, gave me a chance and the rest as the say is History…

Recalling that very day, Eric Omondi stated:

I was the emcee of the event and you (Churchill) took my number na ukaninyima yako. Ukasema ‘nitakupigia’ and you did after two years.

Despite the long wait, the day shone a bright light on his path and since then, Eric Omondi got nurtured in the arms of Mwalimu Churchill boasting today, as an International brand.

One of my best shows was the third one after Barack Obama won the US elections in 2008. I made a short clip of him and his family and also mimicking marathoner, Jelimo. After 2007 post-election skirmishes, 2008 was a great year that no Kenyan will ever forget.

For Eric Omondi, comedy was always his dream.

I wanted to do stand up comedy like Churchill, do clips like Redukylass and parodies like Kajairo.

The 42-year old funny man celebrates the day he brought his grandmother to the popular Churchill show, before her demise.

Roots

The stand-up comedian apparently started the art back in class five where he was the family’s entertainer.

Walking into University, Eric wanted to take up the art full-time but his mother was not for the idea, without completion of his studies.

However, the flourishing comedy act still advises parents to have children establish a firm education foundation first, before starting their careers.

Let your kids follow their passion as long as they’ve gone to school.

Known to many as the ‘street kid’ with a staggering voice, Georgy who lived in the streets for a solid 9 years, just had his life change for the better.

The street boy astonished many after his talent in music went viral. A voice so polished and acute command of the Queen’s language for any street life.

Personalities in the country including popular comedian, MCA Tricky confessed the kid has talent and all he needs is support.

Barely 2 weeks later, George stunned the streets, donning official wear from head to toe.

The talented singer was treated to a 2-piece suit and a pair of shoes of his own choice by upcoming comedian, Ajaabu sana.

Makeover

Ajaabu sana who is also a content creator picked up the street kid promising to change his life.

George admitted no one has ever surprised him nor treated him to anything and could not await the surprise ahead of him.

In the busy business streets of Eastleigh, Ajaabu walked with George into one of the fashion shops and dressed him up in a black suit, complete with a tie.

Thereafter, he was asked to pick a pair of shoes of his choice and his bill would be catered for. The comedian captioned:

A Brother may not be a Friend, but a Friend will always be a Brother.

Like they say, money changes it all. An impressed George remains thankful to his sponsor for the kind gesture, admitting this is the first suit to ever wear and own.

George is gradually hitting fame with a thud following his first song release ‘Epuka Corona’ featuring Masauti and Chuchu.

As we speak, the street boy revealed he is working on something with the Queen of Covers, Wambui Katee.

King Kaka’s fiancée, Nana Owiti hilariously recalled how her ex-boyfriend kidnapped her before ruining his plans after escaping.

The Switch TV host was discussing her worst breakup experience with fellow Chatspot show hosts, that saw her remember the ordeal.

Fateful day

On an ordinary day, out with her girlfriends, having some drinks at a local club, Nana’s ex-boyfriend happened to be in vicinity before calling her out.

Her ex asked to have some talk with her outside, only to step out and get bagged into a car that was on standby.

A plan well formulated by her ex, but unknown to her and despite her efforts to escape the ruthless hands of the man, it was a waste of time.

Escape plan

Fortunately, she quickly crafted an escape plan that sent her into the bushes, in pitch darkness.

Following behind closely, Nana’s athletic ex threw stones at her, trying to trace her.

Despite his loss, Nana’s ex went ahead to report her to the police, as ‘a missing person’.

Kenyan comedian, Jalang’o has not been spared either. The public figure revealed one of the weirdest thing a fan ever did was to sneak into his hotel room and hide under his bed. A female fan for that matter.

Sharing this during an online Q&A session with fans, the funny man recalled:

Jalang’o runs a business that has him buy eggs from farmers, and sell to major hotels in the country. However, as fate would have it, this is now not in his favor.

After dropping a bombshell of being a couple, Real Househelps of Kawangware TV show actors, Shiphira and Michireti might be experiencing delays in their nuptials.

The pair that came out in the open to reveal that they were dating and even have a grown daughter together, had succeeded in keeping their relationship under wraps.

Fortunately, towards the end of 2019, they put it out in black and white, disclosing that they plan to officiate their relationship come 2020.

As celebrities and the rest of the whole continue to mourn lives lost due to Corona Virus, it’s good we also see how we got ourselves here in the first place.

There is a fiction book written 40 years ago that rightly predicted the Coronavirus pandemic. It said the virus would be made in a Wuhan laboratory and transmitted to the masses.

According to different sources, as far back as December 2019, an opthalmologist working in a Wuhan hospital noticed symptoms of a SARS sort of illness in patients who came to the hospital, some even collapsing before they were attended to. He raised the matter with fellow medics and warned that an outbreak loomed since these cases were becoming unmanageable. His calls for action were intercepted by security agents who spy on the messaging networks, and were treated as incitement against the China party.

The whistleblower would eventually succumb to COVID-19 in early February, bringing a global outpouring of anger and grief. Dr Li was treated as a criminal by the Chinese Communist party, who worked hard to hide the truth about COVID-19.

Later in February, the Shanghai laboratory that shared with the world the genome of the COVID-19 was shut down. Nobody knows why it was closed.

Africa

The virus has now spread to nearly every nation of the world, fueled by the highly mobile nature of people. In Africa, it is still making inroads into rural villages that the world is concerned could leave Africa extremely ravaged.

The presence of China in Africa has been a concern to both Africans and the West. Their interest is mainly in the extractive industries while they offer to build facilities such as roads and highways for the areas where they settle. They have benefited from oil in Congo, Angola and South Sudan, and copper from Zambia. This is meanwhile loaning these African nations money to develop their infrastructure.

However, details of such loans are never made public to enable citizens contribute to their nation’s wellbeing. It is widely rumored that the Chinese took over the Zambia port after their debt was not repaid on time.

Chinese have taken over Africa while dumping cheap goods to consumers. They have been known for their arrogance towards Africans and using racist remarks when addressing blacks. A case in mind was a Chinese national who called the Kenyan president a monkey. He was reported. Another case was a Chinese hotel owner filmed whipping a Kenyan for allegedly coming late to work. Interestingly, the hotel owner offered a journalist 20,000 shillings to kill the story. It goes to show how they believe in shady ways of doing things and how cheap black human beings are.

The CCP could be waiting for this pandemic to cripple Africa so that they can pounce on these hapless economies while demanding their pound of flesh. They know Africa may not be able to pay their debts especially after such a pandemic, essentially leaving the neocolonial masters to scramble and partition Africa all over again.

Quarantine time simply means more time is spent indoors than out. Wives are delighted by the announcement since husbands have to just find their way home one way or another.

Gospel singer, Size 8 was impressed by the President’s announcement of a curfew starting 7pm till 5am as of today, the 27th of March.

A curfew that runs indefinitely until the COVID-19 crisis is contained.

The mother of 2 did not waste time, blatantly thanking the President for the announcement that would ensure Baba Wambo would stay home.

Taking to her TV’s remote and a random folder, Linet Munyali addressed her online fans – imitating the ongoing press briefings by the health ministry – on behalf of wives and mothers.

Quite over the moon, Size 8 revealed she is a member of the committee of wives and had come out to thank the President for the move.

I happened to go visit the daughter, unfortunately the same day, her mother who was there to help her balance between her career and the sick child had had ,an accident, she fell and injured her knee, she was also admitted in the same hospital with her grandchild ????‍♂️????‍♂️!,

Unfortunately, the blogs were not giving the K24 journalist any space to breathe, with negative reports left, right and center.

the same day, I saw a blog busy blogging negatively about how betty has taken weight and no longer look after herself ????‍♂️????‍♂️ compared to the other newly married ????????. I wondered if she was eating in their house. This hit me below the belt, forcing me to call on the blog and ask if they really know what that girl is going through. Or are they just writing because they want to write ????????. I felt soo much pain as if she was my sister ????????.

An irked Madam Boss only wished masses would understand what single mothers go through. And what it means to meet the needs of your child(ren) and give them a quality life.

Akothee lamented that society judges too much without getting to the root cause of something.

Every single mother is feeling what I am saying , balancing between career and family is a hell of work , people will meet you out having fun once in a while and start judging and even asking you where you have left your child & with whom . But no one will ever ask to which school she / he goes too,ask for the bank details and arrears. If they ask you the school, they want to know your standards ????????( binaadamu).

“Postpartum alopecia is Real!” Kambua speaks motherhood struggles

Kambua Muziki is proudly a mother to a baby boy, Nate but motherhood is not giving her an easy time.

The award-winning gospel singer-songwriter had to opt out her self-care for the needs of her young, growing boy.

The sleepless nights she probably doesn’t mention and even when you feel unwell, you ignore it, just to care for your young one.

In her recent post, the TV host revealed she has been unwell but she condemns any obstacles channeled her way.

My eyes look some type of way because I haven’t been feeling too great lately (migraines). But, I remain unmoved by the antics of the devil????

Self-care routine

But speaking of first-time motherhood and in the current crisis of quarantine, Mama Nate sought to microblade her eyebrows to avoid everyday pencil coloring of the eyebrows.

Despite the pain that comes with it, she is glad it will spare her time to focus on something else.

So let me tell you about my eyebrows that I got MICROBLADED ????. @microbladingkenya did such a fantastic job. The healing process takes ALOT of patience though. I looked a little crazy for a minute there, with scabbing brows????. So this is how they now look. I can’t wait for my touch up after this social distancing is over ????.

Microblading is a temporary technique for enhancing the appearance of eyebrows whereby pigment is scratched into the skin in fine, short strokes resembling hair, using a hand tool with a blade formed of tiny needles.

Moving on to her hair, Kambua confessed she almost chopped it off because it was proving too hard to handle.

So she sought temporary locks instead to hold her on.

Why she went for locks, the Rauka show presenter revealed she was battling ‘postpartum alopecia’ and just needed to get rid of any extra stress.

And then my HAIR! A girl got her hair temporarily locked because let me tell you, Postpartum alopecia is REAL, and if @chimoga254 hadn’t convinced me to lock it, I was ready to get it ✂️

Postpartum alopecia is described as a normal but temporary change after child birth, where new moms notice hair loss around three months postpartum, but it is unrelated to breastfeeding.

Forget the postpartum effects, her body’s snapback remains a source of envy.

The dashing beauty returned to our screens looking like nothing big had happened to her, body still in shape, no noticeable weight gain, she awed most moms who battle baby fat for months.

She has now decided to flaunt that curvy, petite and stunning figure she always kept hidden behind loose dresses since she delivered.

If anything, the gospel singer now looks like a campus graduate who just hit the job market with a promising paycheque at the end of the month.

Quarantine period is going to take a toll on the extroverts unlike the introverts whom it has favored most. Don’t go too far, Vera falls among the lucky ones.

The Kenyan TV and social media personality admitted that this was going to be one of those days in her life that she will not regret.

Vera is apparently an introvert and spends most of her time indoors and this quarantine period stands in her favor.

The socialite blasted friends who are now busy calling her for hangouts and BBQs that she is not interested in any of it.

She calls them ‘bored souls’.

Don’t care if we’ve been friends for 10 years or whatever, please don’t even think of coming to my house. Y’all calling me to your house for BBQs and drinks and I’m not interested. Y’all bored souls need to leave me alone ooo.

Admitting that corona only spiced up her indoor lifestyle as she pities her friends who are the exact opposite – extroverts.

My friends know I can stay a whole months indoors and not set foot outside. Literally my life before corona. Now they are suffering calling to ask for tips and inviting me for BBQs. Let me stay at home ooo.

Corazon Kwamboka and gym instructor, Frankie Just Gym It might be confirming reports of being an item after they were spotted together during quarantine.

The fitness duo had been speculated to be a pair after hawk-eyed fans unearthed photos of the two in the same location.

They were also photographed walking hand-in-hand couple of times and that only spiced it the more.

Bahati at loggerheads with former EMB producer over copyrighted ‘Roba Roba’ song

Embattled EMB producer, Paulo was not only shown the door from the record label, but had his production rights infringed upon.

Gospel artiste, Weezdom who is signed at EMB records recently released a new track tagged ‘Roba Roba’ but it emerges that was Producer Paulo’s work.

‘Roba Roba’ is allegedly a song the ex-EMB producer created, only for it to be released behind his back, once he had exited the label.

Infringement rights

According to the Producer, apart from its release without his knowledge, no penny was paid to him in regard to the song.

To get rid of any of the Producer’s rights to the song, EMB removed his trademark’s logo and any evidence that pointed his direction.

They copyrighted my work without my consent and also removed my trademarks logo from the song hence infringing my right as a producer.

Peter Blessing

He additionally reveals that gospel kid, Peter Blessing had done background vocals on the song but was never paid for it.

Peter Blessing was also shown the exit after spending a night behind bars for allegedly robbing the EMB founder of Ksh 2 million.

Peter Blessing is now managed by Producer Paulo who is disappointed by the kind of treatment EMB is according them.

Sauti Sol cancel online concert following rising cases of Coronavirus patients in the country

With increasing COVID-19 cases reported in the country by the day, artistes have had to cancel live performances and any tours previously scheduled.

Not just that, live concerts on YouTube are proving difficult for artistes as well, with Kenya’s boy band, Sauti Sol having to cancel one that was scheduled for end of March.

The band’s UK tour on the 28th of March was called off following the global pandemic but they hoped to have a live concert go down via YouTube, as a compensation but it might not go as planned.

Following the cancellation of our UK tour date at Jazz Cafe on the 28th, we were optimistic that we could stream to you a live concert on YouTube to make up for the disappointment.

COVID-19

The music group cites the alarming rising cases of Coronavirus patients in the country as an impediment to their plans.

Unfortunately with the rising cases of COVID-19, we must CANCEL the Youtube concert scheduled for this Saturday, March 28th.

They explained:

We have to prioritize the urgent need for our band, friends, families and team’s safety. Streaming a full live performance requires a sizable crew, band and team members to pull it off. It would be so irresponsible of us to risk their lives and those of their families. We must look out for each other in this unprecedented time.

However, in place of a cancelled live concert, Sauti Sol announced they will be releasing the second single of their upcoming album dubbed ‘MidnightTrain’ as of Friday, the 3rd of April.

Popular KTN political editor and senior anchor, Ben Kitili wears a different mask the minute he steps home. He is a devoted husband and a present father.

Many know him for the image he displays before the screens – a no-nonsense television news presenter who commands his space.

However, he changes tune when at home, where the heart of his family is.

Judging by recent sentiments from his enticing wife, Amina Mude, a ‘selfless being’ would best describe the media firebrand.

In an emotional post online, Mrs Kitili took us back to mid-2019 when she was in labor and set to deliver their second child, a boy.

Flashback

Sharing a video of the events that night, Amina Mude noted:

I was in labor for the better part of the day and night, this man right here was by my side throughout. He massaged my back, gave me water and encouraged me. He was so tired that night and so I requested him to go home to rest because I was just 2 cm dilated, but he chose to be by my side throughout.

Pretty exhausted and late in the night, Mr Kitili would still not give in to going home and have a rest.

He was going to stay by his wife’s side ‘for better and for worse’, in dark times and in light moments.

Amina Mude, hours to delivery, decided to capture the moment and live the memories in her daughter’s future – setting the bar for her on the kind of man she needs in her life.

I managed to ‘steal’ a video when he was taking a power nap so that I show my daughter what kind of a man she needs in her life. Her father has set a bar for her.

Clouded by emotions, Amina’s heartfelt message summed up:

Today I just want to thank God for my hubby. It’s not every day that we get to tell our loved ones how much we love them but when you can, please do. Life is short, appreciate your loved ones.

The couple are now proud parents to a daughter, Ruby Iman Nzembi Kitili and son, Roman Hami Kitili.

Among Kenya’s most watched shows, Ma’Empress closed shop yesterday, with their season finale aired just Wednesday the 25th of March.

A TV drama series that revolves around five women, each with their own struggles but their strong friendship, bonds them into one.

It is through the show that various issues affecting women and the society at large, are addressed.

The show premiered on Maisha Magic East barely six months ago and just as the fan started, it is no more.

Last night, the show aired it’s last that tallies as it’s 52nd episode for Season One.

Everyone has had their lowest moment in their profession – one way or the other – and megastar, Eric Omondi is no exception.

The 42-year old comic defied all odds, scaling the heights to become Africa’s President of comedy but he has had his dark days as well.

In a Q&A session with fans online, a fan asked Eric about his worst experience on stage.

The stand-up comedian recalled how he tried to pull a Hollywood moment during the ‘Chaguo la Teeniez’ awards in 2010, only to be left high and dry.

He gave a shot to the kind of stunts drawn by Hollywood acts – coming down the stage from the roof top, only that his was a rope instead.

All was well until the rope got stuck, leaving him hanging mid-way for some 15 minutes.

Chaguo la teeniez 2010. So I tried to pull a Hollywood moment by coming down the stage from the roof on a rope, kamba ilikwama nikahung hapo 15 minutes????????…the embarrassment.

That stood as one of the most embarrassing moments for Eric in his comedy career.

He now boasts as a high-flying multi-millionaire, earnings majorly from the name he created through his comedy stunts.

Kenyan stand-up comedian YY dismissed settling down with a baby mama not just because of the kid, but because most of them act on emotions.

The funny man engaged his online fans in a Q&A question and the issue of single mothers seemed to be a no-go zone for him.

The comedian who doubles up as a TV host revealed he would not mind dating baby mamas but the hindrances that come with such relationships are what put him off.

Pitfalls

First, most single mums make their child(ren) a priority even before the man and he then feels like a third party.

But most single mothers are hard to love because they make decisions 100% based on their children or how it influences them. This makes you close to a 3rd wheel… “what will my child think?”

Second, these women act on emotions and not based on reasoning and logic therefore creating an imbalance.

It is more of how they feel not how things should be… A great single mother is she who has emotions but only acts on logic.

Third, the MC believes baby mamas rarely heal from their past especially the relationships that led them to having a kid and it becomes difficult to deal with them.

They rarely heal from their pasts.

Fourth is fact that the baby daddy remains part of the woman’s life and seemingly in control of her actions and feelings.

The baby daddy is always in control of her emotions and moods.

Dating

Away from single mothers, YY who admitted he is dating, revealed that his woman once felt insecure about his job after he spent more time on shooting than expected.

This disorganized his day’s schedule, and never made it to pick his girl. Following morning, she had every reason to believe he was out with another woman.

One he launched early 2018, the show is considered the first ‘All English’ comedy show in the country.

It has probably not hit the spotlight like the popular Churchill Show that rakes in millions with a weekly show and stand-up comedians who have stretched their wings into their own brands.

Wearing many hats, Sam West aired:

My main business is entrepreneurship and motivational speaking but I also do stand-up comedy. I run Sam West comedy show.

With his love for comedy, the multi-talented artist added:

This year, what my wife Vivianne and I have done is to incorporate comedy into Dominate, which is an empowerment program.

He believes his comedy business provides the needed platform to upcoming comedians to become better in the art.

Just like Churchill does, I give other comedians a platform, nurture and train them to become better.

Award-winning Kenyan artist, Willy Paul has kept referring to a wife that many thought was another of his stunts but he affirms he even paid her dowry.

The controversial singer seems to be a hopeless romantic, with song releases ever about love.

Recently, the besotted man stepped out with his ‘Magnetic’ song that glued the eyes of many to the screens.

It started with ‘wedding’ photos on his Instagram, followed by romantic poses with a mixed-breed beauty before snippets of the video came in.

That came and went with his ‘Byebye’ jam and the dust settled.

He then bounced back with the same vixen in his ‘Magnetic’ track, that was pretty explicit, tagging her, his ‘wife’.

Since then, the rest was sure history.

In a recent interview with Mpasho, breaking down the song’s theme and content, Pozze expressed:

The song is about how someone attracts you, the power of the attraction of a magnet. It was inspired by my wife.

Talking about his ‘wife’, it comes out that the duo have actually known each other longer than anyone was privy to.

She is Jamaican. We have known each other for a long time now. Along the way, a lot has happened.

Plus, they’ve been through a lot together – he fulfilled his obligations to his ‘wife’. Disclosing:

I didn’t see the need to share dowry photos because no one will help me live with her.

Pozze is not new to parenthood, fathering a son who is still young but growing and the singer probably needs help in nurturing the boy but with a life partner.

On that note, as he settles with his new found love, he is in no hurry to bear more children but take care of what is already there.

We will take our time. I already have a son that I love and he is not even two years old, but I thank God for him. She [his wife] will help me raise this one child as we plan for more.

The coronavirus is no joke but seems only European countries understand how bad it is especially with the high death rate in Italy!

However African’s on the other hand have taken this pandemic lightly as they continue to go on with their daily routines; not worrying whether they will be infected or exposed to the deadly virus!

So far Kenya has reported 25 cases with no deaths recorded yet! Even with the numbers increasing everyday, most seem unbothered as they head to their places of work hoping to make a few coins here and there to sustain their families!

Close down the airport, malls, supermarkets!

For this reason city pastor Godfrey Migwi has come out to plead with the president to order a major lock down in the country!

As seen on his detailed post, the pastor pointed out major reasons as to why the borders, Malls, Supermarkets and places of worship should be shut down for quarantine purposes!

Corona being a grounded virus, it is easily passed on from one person to the other – and with how Kenya is crowded especially at bus stations, Malls and places of worship; pastor Migwi feels that the president will be able to save the nation by ordering a lock down like most European countries!

In his post, the pastor also pointed out that it was better for the economy to hit rock bottom but save lives while at it; because we only live once. He went on to write saying;
