Certain Facts About Christmas

Christmas is arguably the most celebrated holiday of all. Everyone counts down the days to Christmas. People love the season for different reasons. One thing remains clear, Christmas is the season to cut back and relax

However, there are certain facts we need to keep at the back of our heads while celebrating Christmas.

Facts About Christmas

Christmas comes from a pagan tradition known as Saturnalia.

December 25 was probably chosen because it coincided with the ancient pagan festival Saturnalia, which celebrated the agricultural god Saturn with partying, gambling, and gift-giving.

Santa Claus is from Saint Nicholas

Santa Claus comes from St. Nicholas, a Christian bishop living in the fourth century AD. St. Nicholas inherited a great deal of wealth and was known for giving it away to help the needy.

Christmas used to be illegal

Since it stemmed from a Pagan tradition it was made illegal in some countries and people were arrested if they even dared to celebrate it

Gift giving during Christmas was to symbolise the gifts given to Christ

The suit for Santa Claus was inspired by Coca-Cola
Though Santa Claus has worn blue and white and green in the past, his traditional red suit came from a 1930s ad by Coca Cola.

8 Daddy and Daughter Goals With TooSweet Annan And Daughter (Photos)

One of the best blessings from God to humanity is children.  As the saying goes, children are a blessing. Most especially when one is ready for them.

There are many celebrities, both foreign and local ones who make having children look so adorable.

They just can’t have enough of their kids. Each day, most of them turn to their social media pages to express their loves for their wards.

They post beautiful pictures of themselves and the children with beautiful and captivating messages.

We realized that, most of these celebrities, especially the males, whenever they talk about their children, they do so with extreme love.

They all seem to be singing the same song. “The birth of my child has changed my life a lot”, most of them say. Most especially, those who were involved in one controversy or the other(formerly called bad guys).

Another thing which has become more or less like a trend among these celebs is that majority of them are not married to the mothers of their babies. We pray this changes soon though.

This notwithstanding, we see them showing all their love to the kids through the various social media platforms.

TooSweet Annan Bio

One of such celebrities we came across is TooSweet Annan.

He is a Ghanaian actor and a fashion supremo who has scooped awards as best dressed celebrity actor etc.

He has starred in so many movies. There are some who refer to him as ‘the ladies’ Man though.

However, aside his love for his jobs, he’s known to love one thing most in his life-his daughter.

Novanna is Too Sweet’s four year old daughter.

She’s cute, adorable and very intelligent.

We caught a few daddy and daughter moments with the two and thought of sharing them with you.

Five Times Yaw Dabo Slayed On Instagram (Photos)

It looks like this year has been filled with lots of ‘slayings’.  Ghana’s fashion seems to be doing well these days and we can proudly say that this year was an exception.

Most of our celebrities took fashion to a different and higher level this year and we keep applauding them for that.

Many designers too have sprung out and we just can’t have enough of them.

I mean if we really want to grow in fashion then there’s the need for more Fashion designers in the country.

Some of these designers are doing really well in Ghana and even internationally. The likes of Sima Brew, Selina Beb, Elikem Kumordzie etc cannot be done away with in terms of fashion this year.

But when designers, design and make attires, they need people to advertise them for them. Hence, majority of them turn to use models and celebrities.

One of such celebs we’ve recently noted is Yaw Dabo.

Shatta Wale is Charging Me 200K For Rapperholic Show – Sarkodie

Business grows when friends and family pay for products and services.

This seems to be Shatta Wale’s cup of tea. Shatta Wale is well known for not doing things for free.  Shatta has stated over and over again that he would only honour a show when the money ‘hits’ his account.

Sarkodie has come out to state his shock about the price ‘his friend’ Shatta Wale is charging to perform at his 2017 ‘Rapperholic Show’.

According to Sarkodie, he has not been able to pay the full amount of money Shatta Wale has charged. However, he hopes to raise the money by Sunday.

“Shatta Wale is charging me 200k to perform at the Rapperholic Show. So far, I have been able to raise more than half of it and hopefully, by Sunday I will add some money to make up the 200k he is demanding,” Sarkodie disclosed.

Sarkodie made these statements in an interview with Sammy Forson on Live FM.

The 5th Rapperholic concert comes off on December 25 at the Accra International Conference Center. It has been touted by organizers to be one of the biggest show in 2017.

Sarkodie Finally Reveals Who He Considers The Best Rapper In Gh

Awards-winning Rapper Michael Owusu Addo, known in showbiz as Sarkodie has revealed who his best rapper is in Ghana if he steps aside in the music industry.

According to him, Hip-hop artiste, Strongman Burner known in real life as Osei Kwaku Vincent tops the ladder in his absence.

The BET award winner is of the view that Strongman, signed on his Sarkcess record label stands tall when it comes to logical rap delivery.

Asked why he believes Strongman deserves the praises he is showering on him, Sarkodie said ‘Strongman has the timing, delivery and the soul. That’s why I took him on my label.’

Sark further added that Strongman’s style of rap, lyrics and appropriate timing with regards to beats gets to his soul; a talent he believes no artiste has been able to demonstrate to him yet.

“On the real, I would say strongman. I think it’s been a while since I heard an artiste like that. Not because he is with me. When we were coming, it was very raw. I had no friend who was rapping. Strongman has the timing, delivery and the soul. That’s why I took him, he gets to me. He makes me laugh. He gets to me in all directions…,” Sarkodie said on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.

The ‘Adonai’ crooner said urged his fans to believe in what they do to be successful in life.

“Finding the truth is very hard and that means knowing what you stand for. You shouldn’t let anyone come in between that. The truth I stand for is sharing my story with people….”

“You need to stand for it and be stubborn. The greatest people celebrated stood for one thing they believed in. Being nervous is part of it but be determined and if you have that you can do whatever…” he advised.

Sarkodie will be holding the 5th edition of his annual Rapperholic Concert at the Accra International Conference Centre on 25th December 2017.

I Was Never Signed To StarBoy Worldwide – Efya

Efya is setting the record straight about her music dealings.

Ghanaian music diva, Jane Awindor, known as Efya, has come out to debunk reports about Starboy. Efya states that Wizkid signed never her onto his record label, Starboy Worldwide.

Efya says it was more of a collaboration between like minded stars. The goal was to enable them push their music beyond the boundaries of Africa.

“The deal with Wizkid was just an affiliation. We were not signed onto his label. It is a group of labels that came together so that we will push our music to the world because we all have similar goals and objectives. So our record labels came together to form an affiliation.” Efya said.

At the 2016 VGMA’s, Wizkid took to the stage to announce that he had signed Efya, R2Bees and Mr Eazi to Starboy so Efya can understand where the media got our information from.

I Was Never Pimped Or Exploited – Former Miss Ghana 2nd Runner Up

The Miss Ghana saga just keeps getting messier and messier.

The second runner-up for 2015 Miss Ghana, Rebecca Asamoah has come out about the allegations. She commented on allegations by two former beauty queens that organisers of the show pimp winners to big men.

Miss Asamoah made her stance on Hitz FM. She states that neither Inna Patty nor any official of Exclusive Event introduced her into any illicit act to help her raise money for her projects when serving the organisation.

According to Asamoah, she cannot fathom why winner for the 2015 edition, Antoinette Delali Kemavor has accused organisers of the event of introducing her to big men in the society.

She explained that Delali was her driver for the first five months of their reign. This was because she, Rebecca did not know how to drive.

The current Miss United Nation added that Delali drove her around town to seek sponsorship for her projects. Therefore, it comes as a surprise to hear the same person accuse organisers of pimping them.

“I didn’t know how to drive at the time they gave us the cars so about five months, Delali was the one driving me around to seek for sponsorship. She was the one driving me to all the companies I visited to seek for funds to help my project. Her statement that we were being pimped to people never happened to me.

Anytime we visited a company, we presented our proposal to them and if it fell inline with their project, they come on board. Honestly, I was not pimped to anybody. I just did my part to support her (Delali) as a queen. With all what they are saying, I never had that experience with Inna Patty” Rebecca stated.

Rebecca Asamoah later expressed shock over Delali’s comment during her allegation against the beauty pageant. This was in reference that she did not know how her runner-ups raised their funds.

“I am even shocked. For her to say she can only imagine how I raised my funds when she was the one driving me each day for almost five months is a surprise to me. I want to make it clear to people that when they are listening to such accusations, they should not just jump into conclusions because some of the hardwork and grace of God that has pushed us to where we are now.

I left Miss Ghana when my time was up”. she added.

At this moment, it is unclear what the truth about Miss Ghana is. However, one thing we do know is that the truth will always come out.

Read Manasseh Azure’s Reply To Ebony

It all started few weeks ago when Manasseh Awuni Azure wrote a ‘love letter’ to songstress Ebony advising her on her choice of costumes.

About two days ago, we wrote on Ebony’s reply to the letter. But her response came in the form of a question.

The dancehall diva quizzed whether Manasseh Azure was only interested in negativity. This is because he had not written a love letter on her new song “Maame Hw3, which talks about domestic violence.

The broadcast journalist with the multimedia group,  Manasseh Azure has however replied her.

Read Manasseh Azure’s Reply

Dear Ebony,

Yesterday, I met Becca after her interview on the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM. This was shortly after the programme ended at midday. She accused me of abandoning her because of you. It occurred to me, I had still an outstanding assignment to fulfil in connection with you. An hour later, at exactly 1:06p.m., I received a call from a colleague worker, Sandra Akakpo of Adom TV. She wanted me to read a story online, but she sounded disappointed at the turn of events.

“You see, you have not written to Ebony as you promised and now she has replied your letter,” she said.

“Really? What has she said?” I asked.

She told me to go online and read the details. When I did, I was greeted with your letter, which was taken from your Facebook page:

Ebony’s Reply To Manasseh Azure

“Dear manasseh azure awuni,i have a new song out and is called maame hw3.its a campaign song to STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN.i am expecting another lengthy letter from you on this on e,or you only write love letters to me when i have a wardrobe malfunction? Pls let me know. Its ur girl ebony reigns, the 90’s badgyal.”

My dear Ebony, first of all, let me thank you for acknowledging my letter and taking the time to respond. However, I may have to disappoint you this time if you were expecting a lengthy letter.

I want to keep this letter as short as possible. The last time, I wrote to the President and indicated I that was going to be brief, I had people questioning my definition of brevity. But, trust me, this letter will not be as long as the first one I wrote to you.

More On Manasseh’s Reply

My dear Ebony, I don’t and will not write love letters to you only when you have a “wardrobe malfunction.” I had planned to write to you and had discussed it with Sandra and Dzifa Kege of Joy News on Sunday afternoon. I was working on my TV documentary and they were also doing some work in the editing studio on Sunday when the discussion about my writing zeroed in on my previous letter to you.

I told the two ladies that I had observed very positive developments from your camp and I owed you a letter of commendation. They both agreed with me, praised your latest hit song “Maame Hw?” and urged me to go ahead with my second letter.

Unfortunately, however, I have been extremely busy trying to put together a comprehensive documentary on why Ghana is still filthy after sinking billions of cedis into countless, shady sanitation contracts. On Sunday, I got home after 11p.m. and, on Monday, I closed from work at 1:55p.m. and got home after midnight. That explains why I had not written and why Sandra was disappointed that your reply came before my letter.

I’m really sorry if I have made you feel I only notice you when you go wrong. That’s not the case. I hope you will understand and forgive me.

Since I wrote you that letter, I have followed what you do keenly. At the Joy FM Skuuls Reunion, where you performed the weekend after my letter, I was told, “Your Ebony has toned down.”

A week afterwards when you launched your album, I saw the photos and was very impressed with your outfit. I later read an online story with the headline, “Ebony Covers Up at Album Launch.”

More On Manasseh’s Reply

Ebony, I have also watched your “Maame Hw?” video three times and I must commend you highly for a great job. The theme is spot on, the music is dope and the video is very well made. Your outfit was superb. You looked very stunningly beautiful in a very unique way.

Your outfit got people talking and every single person I have heard talk about that video spoke very highly of you and your work. Because of the subject of my first letter, I have been asked several times, “Have you seem the latest video of your Ebony and how she dressed?”

I must confess I was touched by your letter. My letter to you generated thousands of comments. Generally, most people agreed with me. They think you are enormously talented and nudity should not subdue your talent. A few disagreed with me, saying I should leave you to live your life. Some also thought I should not have wasted my time on you at all.

“Why do you waste your time on that girl? Don’t give her the opportunity to insult you. We are all in this country, she will destroy herself and we will all be witnesses,” they said.

More On Manasseh’s Reply

I would not have been surprised if you or your management decided to respond with insults. I had seen how some people who criticized you in the past were served with harsh responses. I knew I risked being treated that way, but like a former President of a South Asian country, I have developed a dead goat syndrome to insults. It therefore came to me as a pleasant surprise that you wanted to hear from me on your latest work.

It is unfortunate that your rather harmless comment has generated harsh responses from people who either did not read beyond the headlines or are not blessed with enough brains to understand what you wrote.

Ebony, I may be wrong but this is how I understood your response: You were not only seeking my view about your latest work but about your latest brand. My letter was not about your music. I have never doubted the excellence you bring to the industry. My concern was your wardrobe. So having switched from a “naked” Ebony to a “covered” Ebony, you wanted my view.

More On Manasseh Azure’s Reply

First of all, thank you for not insulting back but acknowledging the fact that there has been a “wardrobe malfunction.” This admission gives me the impression that you have listened and your recent action shows that you’re prepared to make amends.

“She’s just testing the waters,” a young man in the control room of Multi TV said yesterday. He was cautioning others and me not to be so sure that you have changed.

Ebony, whatever the case maybe I congratulate you on your recent exploits and urge you never to look back. “Maame Hw?” has taught us that you can shoot a video without being nude and still get standing ovations for your work. It has taught us that you look gorgeous in your new brand than your old brand. It has taught us that you can be covered and still stand out.

Continuation of Manasseh’s Reply

Please, don’t get me wrong. I know you’re into showbiz and do not expect you to mount the stage dressed like a Catholic nun. In everything you do, however, let moderation be your watchword.

I can only advise you or make suggestions, but you are responsible for your life. You are responsible for the decisions and the choices you make. You will ultimately bear a greater part, if not all, the consequences – whether positive or negative – that come with such decisions and choices.

There are a lot of positive gossips about you these days, Ebony. The two most important ones are your recent dress codes and your strong contention for the Artiste of the Year. On Monday afternoon, this discussion came up among three or four guys at the reception of Joy FM and I was drawn to it as I passed by. All of us agreed that you have been very outstanding this year and nobody deserves the ultimate award at the next Ghana Music Awards. The only concern, which Adom FM’s Newscaster, Ernest Addo Kumi, felt strongly about was the likely impact of that on your career. He was concerned that if you win and do not manage that accolade well, it could hurt your career.

More On Manasseh’s Reply

I am of the view that you deserve the Artiste of the Year. But in Africa, funny things happen. When it is obvious that Ronaldo deserves the World Best Player in a particular year, it goes to him. When it is Messi’s turn, it goes to him according to our expectations.

In Africa, however, when it was clear in 2009 that Mohammed Aboutrika was miles ahead of his peers that year, after leading Egypt to defend the Africa Cup of Nations, and leading Al Ahly to win the African Champions League and the Super Cup, CAF shamelessly gave the award to Emmanuel Adebayor. We also know Didier Drogba, was tipped to win in 2007, but because he missed the awards ceremony in Togo (which came 48 hours before a crucial 2008 Nations Cup quarter-final), the award was given to Frederick Kanoute of Mali.

Read More On Manasseh’s Reply

So when you go to the VGMA next year, expect anything. The outcome can have a defining moment in your career. If you fail to win the highly coveted award, don’t let disappointment drown you. With or without the award, you are absolutely good at what you do and you must keep it up. If you win the ultimate award, you must remember that the alcoholic content in the fame and glory that come with such high accolades is very high. With the help of your management I know you can handle it. I don’t think age should be the reason to deny you what you deserve.

Above all, know that you have people out there who love you and want you to succeed. I am one of them. I didn’t criticise to destroy you.

Oops! I have not kept my word. I have not been brief. But kindly permit me to end with a question. But as usual, let me ask with this story you may have heard before.

There lived a very rich man who had a bewitchingly pretty daughter, the sight of whom was enough to induce a man to revoke his vow of celibacy. He once called a party and threw a challenge to the young men in the land. He took them to a pool where he kept very dangerous crocodiles and said anyone who could swim across the crocodile-infested pool could either marry his daughter or take £5 million as a reward.

Conclusion of Manasseh’s Reply

He had barely ended when there was a heavy splash and to the utter dismay of all, a young man was swimming across the pool with all his strength. The world is replete with daredevils, you know?

Soon, he was at the other bank of the pool and was greeted with heroic applause.

“Well, it’s now my turn to fulfil my part of the bargain,” the rich man said. Will you take the cash or my beautiful daughter for a wife?”

“I don’t want your cash or your so-called beautiful daughter,” the young man retorted angrily. “I want to see that stupid fool who pushed me into the pool!”

Ebony, I don’t know whether the “new Ebony” we are seeing has come to stay or it is just an accident that coincided with my letter. Is it a deliberate effort to move away from the past, or like the accidental swimmer in the story above, you were pushed by circumstances and would go back to your former self. Please, let me know.

Yours sincerely,

Manasseh Azure Awuni, a great fan of yours.

Most Female Gospel Musicians Dress Like Prostitutes – Nicholas Omane Acheampong

Gospel musician Nicholas Omane Achaempong has some thoughts about the current crop of female gospel stars in the country. According to him, the musicians have started dressing like prostitutes in their music videos and performances.

According to Omane Acheampong, sharing the word of God should be the mantra of these musicians. However, this mission has changed to something else entirely.

He made these statements in an interview.

“The gospel music is now like a beauty contest.”

“If you watch the music videos of most gospel musicians their make-up and other things do not represent what they are preaching. Sorry to say, most of them dress like prostitutes. I am not saying all of them because some of them dress nicely.”

“It appears that the word of God is not valuable to most of them,” he added.

Furthermore, apart from the departure from the word of God, there is no creativity. Nicholas Omane Acheampong said the the songs coming out these days all plagiarized versions of old songs.

“Not every song is a song. There are certain songs that people will rush to listen. But this year, I haven’t heard of any good gospel song. 90% of the songs being released today are remixing of the old songs,” he opined.

Efya Charges GHC 95,000 For A Show?

The last episode of the popular Youtube entertainment program for 2017, “Celebrity Ride With Zionfelix ” came off with songstress Efya.

As it is, every artiste has a specific amount of money they charge before performing at a show.

After a lengthy conversation with Efya, born Jane Awindoor, it is assumed the songstress is taking something closer to Ghc 95,000 for one show and she is of the view that she deserves it.

She was very reluctant in revealing the specific amount though. However, she confirmed that it is not a soupçon of cash.

More On Efya’s Performance Charges

When asked if promoters who have less than the amount cannot book her for shows, she did not give a vivid answer but said: “God has been good”.

She went on to tell Zionfelix, host of the program why she would take around Gh95,000.

The “Getaway” hitmaker explained that she mostly performs live when she mounts the stage and that costs a lot. According to her, she mostly performs with eight or nine-piece band and it is not a joke to mount stage with that number.

Efya believes she has grown as an artist so should work in an extraordinary style to reach the legendary status.

The “Best In Me” singer further stated that she wants to release songs which can last for decades so that generations will listen to it and still feel it is a new song.

The Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ alumnus is set to host her last edition of Girl Talk concert.

She took over from Becca three years ago and has also served three years there. Hence the need for her to bow-out for another selected female artiste, from any part of Africa, not necessarily Ghana to take over.

Scheduled to happen live at the National Theater-Accra on December 27, 2017.

Why Are We Worrying Ebony? – Efya

Efya has shared her thoughts and opinions on Ebony.

Efya real name Jane Awindor shares a different opinion on the Ghanaians who are constantly speaking against Ebony. This is in terms of her alleged indecent dressing.

Efya believes that Ebony’s lifestyle is youthful exuberance. Therefore, it is normal for her to behave this way. Also, the public should allow her this time as she will change as she grows.

Efya said that young and energetic musicians should be allowed to enjoy life at their early stages. This is because most artistes including her, Efya were “little crazy” when growing in Ghana.

She made these statements on Celebrity Ride With Zionfelix.

Furthermore, Efya said she appreciates Ebony’s talen. She advised critics of her dressing to focus on the musician’s talent instead of always tarnishing her image. Efya further asked Ghanaians to support Ebony so that she can grow to become a legend in the country.

The afro-soul artiste continued that critics should not make the ‘Poison’ hitmaker feel “she is doing something so wrong”. According to her, there are many prostitutes on the streets of Ghana who have not been arrested. Therefore, we should not waste our breath on a talent who is doing something good for the music industry.

Efya’s last Girl Talk comes off on December 27 this year.
