I Deserve Thumbs Up For My ‘Trumpet’ Song – Kurl Songx
Budding Hiplife artiste, Kurl Songx has asked Ghanaians to give him a thumbs up for his “Trumpet” song instead of the criticisms.
Many Ghanaians have given the ‘Jeniffer Lomotey’ hitmaker a ‘lazy approach’ tag when it comes to him releasing hit songs.
First it was his ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ song which sparked a lot of controversies. The recent one is him transforming a gospel song into hiplife song.
However, Kurl says he ought to be lauded for achieving for achieving a rather difficult task as transforming a gospel song like “Trumpet” as creatively as he has done.
Kurl Songx was answering questions about his new single “Trumpet” in an interview with www.ghanaweb.com.
According to him, it took a lot of courage to take the ‘Trumpet’ song. Thus, considering how it had been made popular by gospel artiste Grace Ashly. He however added that he knows the gospel musician is proud of the new twist he has given to her song.
“Am I not supposed to be given a thumbs up for this? Who has done this? It is very beautiful you know, people have said they can’t play secular music in church, I have given you what you want,” he said.
He further stated that he didn’t want to be profane, and he is aware that most gospel musicians take inspiration from secular musicians just as he did.
“The same way I am sure many gospel musicians draw inspiration from secular musicians, isn’t it beautiful? I am sure my mum Grace Ashly will be proud. I picked it up and made it mine. It is even difficult, a gospel song praising God, I picked it up and made it mine. I think I need thumbs up for it”
“Trumpet” was released a few days ago and is already enjoying a lot of airplay. The song has even made loud mouthed TV personality, Afia Schwarzenegger claim to have accepted Kurl’s earlier proposal to her.
