M.anifest’s Song Used As Soundtrack For NBA TV-Aired Basketball Documentary

Rapper, songwriter M.anifest is ending the year 2017 on a good and high note.

His song ‘B.E.A.R’ off his 2016 album No Where Cool is the soundtrack for HOOPS Africa‘s new Basketball documentary titled- HOOPS AFRICA: UBUNTU MATTERS.

The rapper took to his official twitter account to share the good news with his fans and followers.

Airing on NBA TV! Dope to have my song B.E.A.R featured on the soundtrack of the @hoopsafrica documentary. He wrote after posting excerpts from the documentary.

The documentary is a collection of stories that celebrates the past, present, and future of basketball in Africa, spotlighting the sport’s impact on society and its development on the continent.

From the dreams of a young Zimbabwean player to honoring the NBA legends who paved the way before him, this film journeys through the growth of the game in Africa.

By centering on basketball nonprofit Hoops 4 Hope in South Africa and Zimbabwe, this documentary uncovers the role the African philosophy of Ubuntu played in the Boston Celtics’ 2008 NBA Championship season.Further documents the historic 2015 NBA Africa Game.

Featuring Hakeem Olajuwon, Dikembe Mutombo, Adam Silver, Luol Deng, Luc Mbah a Moute, Chris Paul, Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, and many more NBA greats, this documentary shows us all why #UbuntuMatters.

It  was aired on NBATV on December 24 and 26, 2017.

M.anifest Biography

M.anifest is an internationally acclaimed award-winning musician from Accra, Ghana. He won the “Best Rapper of the Year” award at the 2013 Ghana Music Awards. This was only a year after being tipped by BBC’s “The Strand” as one of four artists to watch in the World. Described as “Ghana’s rapper supreme” by Rita Ray of the BBC.

2014 saw a blossoming of M.anifest’s artistry, continental presence, and international credentials. He is moreover the first artist to feature on the BBC World Service Africa Beats program.

Born Kwame Amet Tsikata, M.anifest recalls being privy to a breadth of African music. Having been influenced by his grandfather Prof. J.H. Nketia, one of Africa’s foremost ethnomusicologists.  Further described in 2015 by the Guardian (UK) as “the foremost rapper on the continent.”

He has earned collaborations with musical giants such as Tony Allen, Damon Albarn, Flea (Red hot Chili Peppers), Erykah Badu, Femi Kuti, A.B Crentsil and more.

Some of his songs include; ‘Someway Bi, ‘No Shortcut To Heaven’, ‘W’ani Aba’ etc.

He is indeed cementing his reputation as one of the best and musically mature live performers in Ghana.
