Beefing With Chicago Affected Me Negatively – Ex Doe

Many artistes have aired their views on whether or not beefing is good for showbiz or not.

Whiles some believe that beefing in the music industry is okay and makes the scene vibrant, others share opposite opinions.

One of the artistes who believe beefing has a negative impact on whoever is involved is Hiplife artiste, Ex Doe.

Ex Doe believes it is wrong because he was negatively affected by it some years ago.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, the Daavi Medekuku hitmaker shared how

he personally suffered years ago all because of beefs.

According to him, he was deeply affected by the beef with his colleague, Chicago,

and would not encourage any artiste to get involved in any beef.

Although I got the buzz, it was for a short period. In the long run, I was tagged as a beefing artiste and lost a lot of corporate shows.

“At some point, fans of Chicago started attacking my fans and vice versa. I was even scared to go to some shows where I knew there would be a lot more of Chicago’s fans,” he said.

Explaining why he thought beefing was not the best, Ex Doe said an artiste who was

constantly beefing might end up losing great shows.

“Otumfuo or Ex-President Kufuor will not invite such an artiste for a dinner dance. They will prefer the likes of Wiyaala, Kuami Eugene or Efya to perform at such functions,” he said.

He added that an artiste who liked to beef would most likely lose the majority of his fans.

“What most musicians don’t know is that if they beef each other, they end up splitting their

fans because you can’t tell who the fan likes to listen to.

“For instance, a fan of Stonebwoy or Shatta Wale can easily move away when they

realise all they do is to beef each other,” he said.

He is certain that beefing is a cheap way an artiste uses to get to the top which he

thinks is not the best.

“If you are talented, why diss another artiste just to get to the top. Do good music and your works will be appreciated,” he added.

Citing an example, Ex Doe said he supported artiste manager Bull Dog for preventing

Stonebwoy and Samini from performing at Shatta Wale’s Reign album launch because anything could have happened.

Ex Doe has credit with songs such as Maba and Gogowoho.

He is however and is currently promoting his latest single, Cash and Carry.
