However, in 2014, Blakk Rasta got the privilege to perform on MASA OFF (Small Stage). His performance was really impressive and he got selected to perform again for 2018.  However, this time round, he did it on the main stage.

Blakk Rasta performed three times even though he was booked for two performances officially. This only goes to prove how good his performances were and how the audience enjoyed them all.

Other Ghanaian artistes who were part of musicians billed to perform at the MASA festival include, Knii Lante and Fatau Keita.

More than two hundred bands, theatrics, artists and dancers were selected for this year’s event under the auspices of the president and people of the Ivory Coast.

Eleven venues accommodated the various performances which started on the 9th of March and ended on the 17th. Several creative ideas and performances came to bare as the festival wore on to the admiration of the patrons who arrived from all walks of life.

Background

This year’s was the 10th edition of the bi-annual Market for African Performing Arts, known by its French initials as MASA. It also marked the 25th anniversary of the event.

MASA was launched in 1993 by the International Organization of La Francophonie, which represents French-speaking countries. It also offers African artists training for reaching an international market. The festival was badly affected by political crises that struck Ivory Coast between 2002 and 2011. It was relaunched in 2014. “We are doing better now than before the crisis,” said the festival’s communications chief, Chantal N’Cho Nabalema.
