I Am Disappointed – Gyedu Blay-Ambolley To New Generation Of Artistes

Over the weekend legendary musician, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley was one of the numerous musucians who were at the State House to pay tribute to the late Paapa Yankson.

He has come out to make known his opinions about what happened at the funeral.

Ambolley stated that he was not happy at the abscence of the new crop of artistes at the funeral. He was shocked that a man who contributed a lot to the music industry did not have a lot of the newer generation showing up to pay respects.

The singer made these statements on Joy News. He said that the new crop of artistes will regret the attitude they exhibited towards Paapa Yankson’s funeral.

Many of the young ones are sampling Paapa’s music. I don’t know why they are not here but they will regret that later,” he said.

Notable huge artistes like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Samini, Wutah, Kumi Guitar, Kwabena Kwabena were conspicuously missing at the State House event.

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was present and was joined by the likes of Nana Ampadu, Rex Omar, Paulina Oduro, Alhaji Sidiku Buari, Akwaboah Snr, Nana Queen, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Ben Brako, Pat Thomas among other mourners to pay their last respects to the Highlife legend.

Gyedu-Blay Ambolley revealed that the young musicians always refer to the veteran musicians as ‘old school’ because they do not know what is happening with the current trends.

These perceptions by the new musicians is preventing them from learning from those who have gone ahead of them.
“That is the mistake that is coming from the younger ones. When the younger ones see us, they say old school. They forget that it is the old school that teaches the new school,” he asserted.

Blay-Ambolley advocated for cooperation and mutual respect between the old and young generation of musicians.
