According to him, women songwriters give an interesting perspective to music and they are refreshing to listen to.

Asked why he thinks women in the music industry are few, the ‘Nowhere Cool’ crooner attributed it to the power dynamics.

M.anifest believes it is down to power dynamics where some men feel threatened by the talents of women, they prefer to let them be in the background.

M.anifest speaks;

“I want to see more women producers…I think that will change the sound and make it more interesting,” he said.

The reigning best VGMA rapper said pitching two female singers against one another is unhealthy. This he explained is because there are lots of space at the summit for everyone. M.anifest believes that the opposite way is rather helpful because it’s more exciting.

“It makes it more exciting because you just can’t have this testosterone-heavy scene which makes it one way. I am anti one way.

“On every show I do, I try to balance the energy with women…I love working and performing with women artiste that is why I worked with them on every album.”

M.anifest, born Kwame Ametepee Tsikata is an internationally acclaimed award-winning Ghanaian musician. He was crowned the King of Ghana Hip-Hop in 2017 when he won Best Rapper and Hip-Hop song of the year at the Ghana Music Awards. M.anifest has worked with the likes of Damon Albarn, Flea, Tony Allen, Erykah Badu, all international acts.

He is credited with songs like; ‘W’ani Aba’, ‘Someway Bi’, ‘No Shortcut To Heaven’ among others.

He’s currently warming up to headline the 2018 Lake of Stars Concert, scheduled for March 10,2018 at the Walthamstow Assembly Hall – London.
