Nana Ama McBrown Campaigns Against Tramadol Abuse

Ghanaian screen goddess, Nana Ama McBrown has added her voice to the few Ghanaian celebrities who have voiced against the abuse of tramadol.

The abuse of Tramadol, best known as Tramol is alarmingly increasing among the youth in the country.

Gh One news anchor, Nana Aba Anamoah and her team started the fight against the drug abuse months back.

They did a documentary using a few areas such as Old Fadama in Accra for their research.

Their documentary and campaign has received appraisal from many respectable personalities in the country.

Tramadol is an opioid pain medication used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain.

However, report in recent times suggests that abuse of the drug is ruining the lives of many young Ghanaians.

This has gingered some celebrities to campaign against it. Most of them have called on the government to put strict regulations on accessing the drug.

So far, celebrities such as Shatta Wale, Fancy Gadam, Nero X among others have also added their voices to the campaign against the drug abuse.

Some have even embarked on tours in some selected High schools across the country to campaign against the abuse of the drug.

Nana Ama McBrown Mensah has pleaded with the youth to desist from the misuse of the medicine.

The TV presenter cum actress said she would not have been a superstar if she abused drugs when starting her career as an actress.

McBrown further disclosed that she was surprised to be informed about the rate at which the youth has been abusing the drug in the past months.

Mrs. Mensah also advised them to choose their friends wisely. This she said is because, some of these youths are influenced to engage in illicit drugs by their so-called friends.

Nana Ama was speaking on ‘The Celebrity Ride” show with popular blogger, Ziofelix.

What Is Tramadol?

Tramadol is a pain relief drug, which according to medical experts, functions like heroin. It can cause psychotic problems as well as damage vital organs in the human body if abused.

Recent surveys have shown that the drug is being abused by some youth, as well as some market women, drivers and in some cases students.

Findings have shown that Tramadol abuse has killed more people than heroin and cocaine.
