Amakye Dede @ 45: Kumasi Concert To Feature Sarkodie, Ofori Amponsah, Lilwin, Others

Preparations are vigorously ongoing for the upcoming concert dubbed “Amakye Dede live in concert”.

The concert, which is being headlined by legendary Highlife musician, Amakye Dede is

slated for Saturday December 29.

The event organised by Salt Media and May Day Entertainment, would see some of Ghana’s

finest artistes gather at the venue to celebrate the highlife stalwart.

The list includes Ghanaian entertainer Kwadwo Nkansah “Lilwin”, Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie,

contemporary highlife poster boys K.K. Fosu and Ofori Amponsah.

“Amakye Dede live in concert”, seeks to celebrate his illustrious music career spanning over

four decades and will come off at the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi.

Music loving fans can grab their ticket for a cool Ghc70 (Regular) and Ghc100 (VIP).

On December 1, 2018, history will be made as various A-List stars converge for this

year’s Abrantie Amakye Dede Live in London concert.

The concert is expected to bring together lovers of authentic good music from all walks of life.

Patrons will enjoy a tasteful blend of old and urban performances.

This however, may not happen again as it is tagged as a one-night electrifying experience

with the legendary Amakye Dede.

The legend will test the live performance prowess of young afrobeats and highlife

musician, Kuami Eugene at a major highlife night concert in London.

The event will however come off live at the Dominion Center, London.

It however promises to be the biggest highlife concert ever to hit Britain and probably

the biggest test for most of the dynamic artistes on the bill – from the

iconic Wutah, Nana Fofie, Ayedem, A Star (the Kupe hitmaker), and many others.

It doesn’t however end there. The night will also witness an amazing on-stage

performance by Kumawood actor and comedian, Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win,

with the official MC for the event, being award-winning sports presenter,

Patrick Osei Agyemang – Countryman Songo.

It’s a night no one will want to miss for anything.

Amakye Dede Presented With Keys To The City Of Worcester

Legendary Highlife musician, Amakye Dede has been bestowed with a new honor in the United States of America.

The “Odo Ho Akyire” crooner has been presented with the keys to the city of Worcester in the state of Massachusetts in USA.

Amakye’s honor comes after he played a mega concert in the city with his Apollo High Kings Band

and for other contributions to the city.

Presenting the keys to the music legend, however, was John Petty, Mayor of Worcester.

Amakye Dede hence becomes the latest in a line of Ghanaian personalities to receive such an honor from the city.

The performance and presentation of the keys however, occurred on Sunday, August 12th.

Meanwhile, the city has also honored some other Ghanaian entertainers such as Shatta Wale,

and Abraham Atta.

High Life Musician Amakye Dede Enstooled Chief In Agogo

Legendary High Life Musician, Amakye Dede has been enstooled Chief at Agogo in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Omanhene of Asante Akyem Agogo, Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong conferred the honorary title on the musician.

The enstoolement took place yesterday, January 1,2018 with a colorful ceremony.

His stool name is Barima Okyeredom Amakye Dede the 1st.

The title, ‘Okyeredom’ according Agogohene means someone who pulls crowd. He further stated that since the ‘Iron Boy’ crooner is a crowd-puller, hence the title.

According to him, the musician is crowd-puller and exceptional singer whom through his career has won numerous accolades for himself and for Agogo.

Nana Akuoko Sarpong also announced that the conferment is to show the appreciation of the people of Agogo to Amakye Dede for his newly constructed hotel in the town.

Abrantie in his acceptance speech gave the assurance that he will take his new role very seriously and deliver as expected.

“…I want to assure nananom that I will take my responsibility very seriously. And I will do everything to uphold the dignity of this office and I will not let you down in any undertakings that I have to do”, he said.

The ceremony also saw Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Kwaku Kyei also enstooled as Obrempon of Agogo for contributing in diverse ways to ensuring the development of the area. His new name is Obrempon Kwaku Kyei.

Born Daniel Abrantie Amakye Dede, is an awards-winning Ghanaian High life musician. He is one of Ghana’s premier high life artists popularly referred to as “Iron Boy”, “the highlife maestro” and “Abrantie” meaning (Gentleman). He was however born in Agogo-Ashanti Akyem on 5th January 1958.

Owns owns a very popular bar in Accra called Abrantie Spot.

There are over 18 albums to his credit. Some of his songs are; “Jealousy Go Shame”, “Handkerchief”, “Seniwa”, “Brebrebe yi”, “Mensuro”, “Mabre”, “Broken Promises”, “Nsuo etc.
