5 Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Dark Underarms/Armpits

We all love to flaunt our beauty with sleeveless tops, spaghettis, bikinis and strapless gowns. But are those dark underarms giving you a hitch wearing your favorite outfit? It’s time to deal with it.
Generally, dark discoloration of under arms is not a serious medical condition every time.

But at times, dark underarms may also be as a result of a medical condition that is known as acanthosis nigricans which is often associated with insulin resistance, obesity, hormonal disorders, certain medications, and cancer.

Get diagnosed with your doctor to find out the exact reason.

However, if it is just due to shaving, regular use of hair removing creams, excessive sweating, poor ventilation of underarms, accumulation of dead skin cells, and use of alcohol-based deodorants and antiperspirants – home remedies are a great solution to reduce them.

You can easily get rid of dark underarms using simple home remedies that are safe, effective, natural and affordable.

Here are the top 6 ways to get rid of dark underarms;

1. Baking Soda

Baking soda can be used to make an exfoliating scrub to get rid of dark underarms. This will help remove dead skin cells, which is one of the main causes of dark underarms. It will also help unclog skin pores.

  1. Mix baking soda and water to make a thick paste.
  2. Use this paste to scrub your underarms.
  3. Wash it off and pat dry the area thoroughly.
  4. Repeat a few times a week.

You can also apply a light dusting of equal parts of baking soda and cornstarch to neutralize body odor.

2. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is another good option to get rid of dark underarms. It contains vitamin E that can help lighten the underarms. At the same time, it will also work as an effective natural deodorant.

  1. Massage the dark underarms with coconut oil.
  2. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Wash it off with mild soap and lukewarm water.
  4. Repeat two or three times daily until you achieve the desired results.

3. Potato for Dark Underarms

The mild acidic property present in potatoes is a great natural bleaching agent. Unlike strong bleaching agents, it will not cause skin irritation.

  • Simply rub a thin slice of potato on your underarms.
  • You can also grate the potato and apply the juice to the affected area, allow it to dry for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water.

4. Cucumber

Just like potatoes, cucumbers also have natural bleaching properties to help lighten discolored skin.

  • Simply rub a thin cucumber slice on your underarms or grate a cucumber and apply the juice under your arms. Do this once or twice daily until you are satisfied with the results.
  • Another option is to extract the juice from a cucumber and mix it with a little turmeric powder and lemon juice. Apply this paste on the affected area. Leave it on for 30 minutes, and then wash it off with water. Repeat this home remedy once daily or every other day for best results.

Use either of these home remedies twice daily for better and faster results.

9 Easy Home Remedies For Soft Feet

Skin is exposed to harsh elements on a daily basis, from sun and wind to harsh chemicals and drying soaps. Feet can be a beautiful part of the body. Often, though, people neglect theirs. The skin becomes dry, coarse or cracked. This is far from the ideal of smooth, silky feet. Fortunately, making the skin on your feet smooth is a simple and straightforward process. You can do it overnight and the cost for the materials is very low. In fact, you probably already have everything you need.

Items Needed;

  • Lavender or rose essential oil, optional
  • Sugar
  • 1 whole lemon
  • Pumice stone
  • Cotton balls
  • Coconut, almond or olive oil
  • Plush socks

Step 1

Soak your feet in warm water. Either take a bath or fill a small basin with soothing warm water. Avoid hot water, which can dry out your skin. Add a few drops of lavender or rose essential oil to the water to create a soothing sensory experience. Soak your feet for about 10 minutes.

Step 2

Dry them off using a soft, clean towel.

Step 3

Slice a lemon in half and dip one-half of the lemon into a small amount of regular sugar. Use the sugared lemon half to scrub any rough areas on your feet. Go over your toes as well using gentle circular motions. If you have particularly rough areas on your feet, use a pumice stone or foot file to smooth out these areas.

Step 4

Rinse off your feet using warm water and towel dry them.

Step 5

Pour a small amount of natural oil, such as coconut, almond or olive oil, onto a small cotton ball.

Step 6

Apply the oil to your feet, making sure to sweep the cotton ball around and between all your toes. Reapply oil to the cotton ball as needed until your skin is lightly coated.

Step 7

Pull on a pair of clean cotton socks or plush socks to keep your feet clean while the oil does its job.

 Step 8

Keep the socks  on for at least two hours and, ideally, around eight hours. Time this process for around bedtime so that the oils can soak into your skin while you sleep.

Step 9

Repeat the exfoliation process about once a week. You can apply natural oil to your skin as often as every day.

Note

Be aware of any allergies or sensitivities your skin may have before applying lotion or oil. Purchase a deep moisturizing lotion for everyday use between oil treatments to keep your skin happy throughout the day. Reapply after bathe.
