12 Year Old Boy Excels In BECE, Benefits From Free SHS

The Nana led government free Senior High School Policy Programme has received massive patronage and applauds from many Ghanaians and Non-Ghanaians across the globe.

A recent story associated with the policy is the discovery of a 12-year old boy whose academic dexterity has catapulted him years ahead of his mates to also benefit from the program.

The 12- year old genius Jeremiah Ngambire, who hails  from Pelengu in the Nabdam District and Freshman of Navrongo Senior High School (NAVASCO), sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) as a candidate of the Lovely Home Academy in the Central Region came out with flying colors with aggregate eight which gained him admission into the Senior High School.

Result slip of Ngambire Jeremiah

After so many fruitless attempts to reach the young man’s father, a telephone conversation with Mr. Shadrack Ngambire, Jeremiah’s father revealed that the young boy’s age was accurate as stated. He indicated that his son was born in August 2005 and started schooling at age five. The father again revealed that his son started  his primary school education in the year 2011 and recounted that the school authorities upon realizing the academic prowess of Jeremiah gave him a double promotion to primary three.

He further added that the young genius was then promoted again right from primary three to primary five by his class three teacher together with school authorities because of his exceptional performance.

Young Ngambire with Hon Kofi Adda

Young Jeremiah, who is studying General Science as a course at the SHS however won the admiration of many including the current Minister for Water and Sanitation and Member of Parliament(MP) for Navrongo Central, Hon Joseph Kofi Adda who recently paid a visit to the school to observe the implementation of the Government’s fee-free education policy in the Upper East Region who encouraged the young man not to be relentless in his studies adding that “I want you to read medicine and become my doctor in future” as was reported by Starr FM where it was indicated that the Minister had earlier pulled the boy to his side and inquired from him the program he was studying. The Minister is said to have then given his complimentary card to Jeremiah and asked him to deliver it to his parents for a possible scholarship to the university to pursue  a course in medicine.
