I’m Ready To Do Music For Any Political Party In Return For Cash – Yaw Sarpong

Gospel musician, Yaw Sarpong has confirmed that he is prepared to feature in the campaign song for any political party should the opportunity avail itself.

He however explained that he will do this not because he is a member of that party. Or that he has finally found trust in political parties in the country.

Instead, his decision is borne out of pure business.

Responding to a question as to whether he is ready to do music for any political party in the country, he said;

“Music is my work and I need money as well so I will do it, take the money and offer some to God”, he revealed in an interview with Sikka Fm in Kumasi.

To him, music is his business hence he is ready to record a song for any political party on the basis of business and not affiliation.

“I will do it with my band, therefore, any amount that will be sufficient for the operational cost of the band group is oK”, he affirmed.

On the other hand,

The “Yen Kakyere Agya Se” crooner however added that he is not ready to tolerate any “God Bless You”

as a form of appreciation for the job.

Asked which political party he belongs to, the legend said,

“For politics, I have no affiliation because politicians are some kind of people who can easily mess up your music career with their utterances. Today one will say this and the next day the other will say something else”. He told Tony Montana the host of the show “Flavour Zone”.

Yaw Sarpong who has over the years released very inspirational songs either. He has 26 albums to his credit.

He is set to release yet another song with the King of Rap, Sarkodie this year.

Gospel Musician Yaw Sarpong To Feature Sarkodie On New Single

Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician, Yaw Sarpong has hinted of a collaboration with multiple awards-winning rapper, Sarkodie.

The ‘evergreen’ gospel disclosed that he listens to Sarkodie’s music a lot and looking forward to a collaboration with the boss of SarkCess Music.

“Sarkodie is one of the musicians I admire so much. And the two of us are in talks for collaboration soon”. He said in an interview with Showbiz.

Interestingly, Yaw Sarpong stated that most of the secular music out there are better songs than a lot of the gospel music tracks.

He mentioned that King Promises’ ‘CCTV’ and Sarkodie’s ‘Adonai’ are some of the secular songs with refined lyrics. This, he added are songs which most of the gospel songs out there cannot rub shoulders with.

The “Wo Haw Ne S3n” hitmaker musician is currently preparing to launch his 26th album titled “The Nine”.

Congratulations! Musician Yaw Sarpong Receives Honorary

Veteran Gospel musician, Osomafo Yaw Sarpong received an honorary doctorate degree in Sacred Music from the Ecclesiastical Bishop Leaders Conference of Africa (EBLCA), an affiliate of the Kayiwa International University, Uganda.

Last Saturday, Mr Sarpong, who celebrated 40 years of a blissful music career, was decorated with the title for his invaluable contributions to the development of the country’s gospel music industry. Also, his band, the Asomafo Band, was also presented with a plaque in recognition of its support to the gospel music icon.

Mr Sarpong is working on an initiative dubbed: “The Prison Project” with the aim to touching and transforming lives in the country’s prisons. His project has led him to sign a six-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghana Prison Service Board to allow him to establish music centres to rehabilitate the prison inmates.

 

He told the Daily Graphic, “We want to restore hope to prisoners through music. So in the next six years, the focus will be to build music centres across the prisons because there are talents among the inmates that need to be developed.”
